@MathMom71 not pathetic at all! I can understand that sentiment; it’s been nice spending another year with my parents before I head off to Chicago. Best of luck to your son!
Waitlisted!
International applicant at UChicago. Waitlisted! Not intersted in taking a gap year.Is it a given that people selected from the waitlist get no financial aid?
Guys is there a waitlist thread?
For more info on gap year and waitlist you can type the key words “2021 gap waitlist” into the search function next to the page count to see last years threads on this.
@smilemom sorry just saw this now! I didn’t end up applying for financial aid, and I got waitlisted as well
@CU123 I can’t find the thread, can you post a link?

This will give you a sense of when stuff happened last year. Very few people got taken off the waitlist for 2021 – the class was really oversubscribed – and a few more got taken with the gap year plan. It looks like that happened mainly the first week in May.
Should I send in my 3rd quarter grades? My counselor told me to, but idk. It’s just that I made a B+ in one of my classes last semester and my final 3rd Q grade in that same class was a 96. I feel like it might help to note that improvement and further attest to my hard work. While it may end up
not helping, do y’all think it’ll hurt?
I don’t think it’ll hurt, it just shows you’re getting better
@writermom2018, the Class of 2021 (last years admits) was much bigger than expected and created some serious housing issues. I suspect their first year of offering ED came with a steep learning curve and ultimately played a role in their admissions math being off. My son is in the Class of 2020 and passes along all sorts of info.
does taking a gap year means that I will be 100% admitted next year?
No, not unless the admissions office specifically offers that, which they usually do sometime in May.
Did any RD admitted student receive acceptance packet by mail yet?
@catfather yes, the acceptance packet came in this past Monday. Since then we have received another packet with a scarf and yesterday the parents received a package with t-shirt, hat, pen and decal for your car. Chicago is very good on wooing.
@MisPollitas00 Yes! Even though we all know it’s marketing (and ultimately increasing our cost of attendance), it’s still fun to get that stuff…
So are the stats for ED I or ED II available online anywhere??
