@alliblues and if she falls in love with UChicago and is confident it’s her number one - switch to EDII at the end of the tour
^ Not unless she’s deferred. Maybe they can drop into Admissions and get an early response.
I suppose being deferred is infinitely better than being rejected, but I can’t stand the idea of waiting three more months!
I did the “sailing off the edge of the world in the thirteenth century” essay. I plan to major in history and I have a background in creative writing so I wrote a historical fiction odyssey with hints of my social justice ideals in it. I hope they like it.
@alliblues I agree with @fbsdreams - visit & consider applying EDII to up her chances. You can ask the financial aid office for an “early read” of your aid package if you have financial concerns.
I used the magical spell prompt
you guys think it hurts my chances if many people apply from my school? i go toa competitive school in the Miami FL area
Did anyone do “Mind that does not stick” as a prompt?
Hmmm I don’t think many people did that (but that makes yours more unique!) I personally did the one where I cast my own spell! I loved it and ran with it a bit.
Did anyone do prompt 5?
Did anyone here send a research material supplement?
@KigaliLuanda I did.
My daughter wrote a love letter to our family sewing machine that has been in the family for three generations.
@85bears46 @fbsdreams @DumDeeDummm I really appreciate your insight. I didn’t realize most who don’t get in get deferred. That’s very good to know.
@JBStillFlying We are way too much of rule followers to ask for early information.
@alliblues I am assuming your DD is applying EA. ED1 may have a very different outcome distribution. IIRC, ED1 outcome can be acceptance and rejection. I am not sure deferral is a possible outcome. Parents please correct me if I am wrong.
@85bears46 Yes, EA.
Haha, I’m late to this thread, but I applied EA as well. Glad I looked at this because I wouldn’t have known decisions came so soon!
Doubt I get in though, UChicago was a major reach
@hollyleaf welcome and good luck! I’m also an EA applicant so I fear we might be deferred like most EAs, but still, here’s hoping for acceptance.
BTW, did you take your username from the Warriors series? Hollyleaf was one of if not my favorite character in those books.
@alliblues Enjoy your tour on Monday then. It will be a sunny and seasonably cold day in Chicago. The only downside is the Autumn Quarter officially ends on this Saturday. There will be far fewer students on campus by Monday.
@85bears46 @alliblues
I just checked the UChicago website. ED1 result can be admit, defer, or deny.
^ That’s correct (post #258) but ED1 doesn’t have the option to switch to ED2. If deferred they must stay in the regular pool, as mentioned earlier.
ED2 is accept, waitlist, or deny.
