Not if the financial aid package isn’t enough. Without financial aid it’s binding.
Thanks @browniesundae He’s definitely going to try to make it work. I appreciate your input on your experience. I’m thinking the same, more attention and perks at the big school vs cog in the wheel. He definitely likes being around other brainiacs though and I know he’d have that in spades at Chicago. I appreciate hearing your son has found his niche at the big U. Do you mind my asking where?
Hey! Did anybody get waitlisted?
Did everyone receive an email saying
“On behalf of myself and all of the admissions counselors here at UChicago, I would like to thank you for the time and consideration you put into your application.”
… did people who were accepted receive this? I feel like this is foreshadowing bad news … too scared to open my decision.
@Gandrea1334 - my son received the notification e-mail today saying the same thing. He got in. It’s just the standard e-mail they release (hours after the decision is available, of course).
@MamaCie I PMed you.
Any estimates on when RD might be released? I was thinking maybe March 15, based off last year. (?)
Early to mid March is what my son’s portal says (he’s ED2 but they were finalizing decisions on both at the same time so they mentioned RD as well). Check your portal to see if you have a current message about that.
were many people waitlisted after their EDII decisions?
@firefox226 - hard to know how it shook out but anecdotally at least there seemed to be more rejections than waitlists.
For ED1’s who were accepted, how long did it take to get the FA award?
@JBStillFlying Mail the Finaid Committee/AdCom to find out. Otherwise the acceptance letter/app portal (for admits) should state the date(s)/the content related. Thats where the Finaid amount pops up as well.
Hope this helps.
^ I’m just trying to get an idea as to when to expect FA info. for ED2. Calling them can be hit-or-miss on getting any useful information, depending on who picks up the call. No major hurry. Son’s portal shows that his materials are all received, but no award posted as yet.
Rather than calling, mailing usually works best. They respond with a definite answer that you have on record. Contacting FinAid will almost certainly guarantee a definite answer regarding this, especially since the applicant was accepted.
when do you guys think RD decisions come out?
^ Early to mid-March.
I was given provisional acceptance in late January after applying regular decision in early January. Does anyone have any idea when I will receive my financial aid package?
@tiredstudent1 - probably with the other RD acceptees who applied for finaid. Actual admission goes out early - mid March and I’d expect F/A shortly thereafter.
@tiredstudent1 Does provisional acceptance mean a LL? (I’m genuinely asking) Then yes.
So all the schools doing LL’s or similar letters are Stanford, the Ivies, and UChicago. I hope these are all.
Will they post an official date (closer to the release date) like they did for EDII?
