<p>Similar to the Hallowed Grounds debacle over the summer, this seems like another example of an administration with a set agenda and direction, with little engagement offered for students. Administratively, at least, students need to be viewed more as partners, and less as vessels who stay on track with the admin's plans.</p>
<p>Disappointing… TL’s a gem and I knew her fairly well when I was in college. She’s nothing if not extraordinarily principled, my guess is that she didn’t like something that was going on.</p>
This is a pretty apt statement of what’s going on, from Hallowed Grounds to UCSC to the rest of the university. As for whether, as the university puts it, “social innovation and philanthropy” is preferable to community service, well…</p>
