Uchicago deferrals: What did you write in your letter of interest?

Hello,
As the title of the post: What did you write in your letter of interest? Should it be sentimental pages of essay or 1-2 concise paragraphs? What kind of information should I mention in the email?
Thanks.

You can craft a very short note confirming that you remain very interested in the school. If you have any significant accomplishments since your application mention them briefly. And ONLY IF IT IS TRUE you can add something along the lines of “if accepted I will attend”.

Admissions officer are swamped right now, they have tons of applications to get through with tons to read. They absolutely don’t wont a long sentimental essay.

Overly sentimental but pretty short few paragraphs. Just write what you wish you said the first time around.

i basically reaffirmed that uchicago was my first choice, just a good sized paragraph

It can basically be condensed into one sentence: if you accept me, I will attend

My letter was two paragraphs; the first paragraph reaffirmed my interest in Chicago and the second one updated them about my recent accomplishments. It was only about a page single-spaced.

Generally:

  1. Thank you for taking the time to read my application and the countless others.

  2. I am very committed to the University of Chicago, it is my absolute top choice.

  3. Mentioned particular detail of the school that attracts me.

  4. Thank you for your time, I hope you’ll consider my application for the upcoming spring decisions process.
