Does anyone here know what international students are supposed to send as a mid year report? My mid year exams took place in October so I think that already went with my school report!

Are we supposed to send mid year reports before or after decisions/winter break?

Yalesoon, as soon as they are in you possession.

Hey guys, this is a little random but does anyone know how a suspension will affect the decisions? The suspension was for underage drinking

You dont need the mid year decisions for EA. I wouldn’t send them unless you get deferred or if you are applying regular or if you get in. Otherwise no need to ofc
aka just wait for decisions before doing anything right now

Let’s all place a bet on when we think decisions will be released! Whoever wins gets bragging rights and possible clairvoyant tendencies!!!

I’ll go first: December 19

Hmmm…I’ll go with the 21st; I like the solstice

Dec 20th, 2013 :)

The 18th! d:

The 20th of December!!

Oh man, I feel like such a brat reading all of you guys’ posts on this thread. Please don’t hate me, but I’m one of the 51 matched there from Questbridge, so, um, I’m squared, heheh. I hope I get to see at least a few if not all of you there next year, you all seem friendly. They said they’re sending out my Admissions Packet in the mail with you guys, though, so I’m kinda pinning on this date, too. Not quite as badly, but…um.

So, hi! My name is Eli Hekel. Can I meet a few of you? No need for actual names, but I figure why not give mine. If you have any questions, say about my application, I’d be happy to answer to give you guys a ballpark of someone they’re sure to let in.

Hey Eli, congrats on the acceptance, that’s awesome!!! I know that the test scores definitely aren’t the most important part, but if it’s not too personal what were yours? Also what was your first choice major? I’m Siena, by the way :)

Hi, Siena!
I took the ACT last December and got a 33, and my SAT score from the same time was a 2160, CR 800, M 730, W 630. I took the ACT again this October, and got a 35, but I didn’t send that score in officially, just a little blurb I sent to all my QB schools from a printed out unofficial report. I don’t know if they’re even able to consider that, so I figure I was accepted on the 33 and some killer essays.
I’m more or less planning on going into Computer Science, but I’m going to treat first-year like a survey year, and see if anything else really piques my interest.

I was guessing December 20th when the deadline was “mid-December”, and I’m going to stick with that.

My eighteenth birthday is on dec 21st, so I dunno if I’d want to receive my decision then. I’d wager the 17th of December. When were they released last year–the 18th?

Happy early birthday Danny Thanks Eli, computer science is so interesting! I did some agent-based modelling for a while but then the program sort of drifted apart when more people didn’t show up (hooray for small towns :/). I want to major in theatre–woohoo Second City! Which essay prompt did you use?

Um. That thing you said there. I’ve never heard of it.
Looking it up, though, it’s intuitively obvious, just nothing I’ve ever messed around with. Hm. Hope I get a project on that soon. I like thinking of my objects like little people who have to run around and work together, so it’ll be cool when they’re actually modelling something that does that.
Anyway, cool, I have a couple friends trying to go into theatre, obviously not at UChicago, but, you know.
As for the essay prompt, I originally wanted to do the apples and oranges, but…I was massively sleep deprived, and it started turning into a short story about a cold orange in a town of Switzerland that didn’t like apples. The punchline being knock knock “Who’s there?” door opens a little “ApfelSLAMsine…” and it rolled on past the Matterhorn. Understandably, this wasn’t in any shape to submit as a college essay, and was pretty inane and stupid anyway. Probably the worst thing I’ve written in years.
So, I used the custom essay prompt and edited and turned in a little thing I wrote as a joke response to a howto prompt in AP English. “How Not To Write a Program.” It basically went on and made fun of about 7 different companies and game developers who are quite obviously programming wrong, with a cute little hopeful twist at the end. It wasn’t perfect, but it was certainly original, and apparently they liked it. So, yeah.

Dannyo95…
I have the same birthday as yours o_o I really hope it’s not on the 21st… although I’m an international student so technically it would be the 22nd where I live…

Modulus, so jealous 0_0, lol, hopefully I will have better luck with EA.

Did anyone get an email from UChicago, saying that the application is complete?
Because I didn’t get one…
