UChicago EA Applicants 2018

my first finals day is the day of decisions…yeah i’m sure that’ll go well

My first day of finals is also decision day. If I get in, this certainly won’t be good for my grades, as I won’t care at all about how I do on finals.

LOL decisions are on my second day of finals >< And none of my classes on the third (last) day have legitimate finals, so… I guess I gotta study for all of them ><

ughhh i wish i had finals before xmas break…that’d be such a nice and relaxing holiday off. but nooo i have 2 papers due and a book to finish (HOW CAN ONE READ WHEN THEIR FUTURE IS BEING DECIDED!!!)

it’s very scary to think that all decisions have basically been made already and that they just haven’t informed us yet. gahhh

I loved the bell jar. Although, yeah dark subject matter.
Best of luck for finals to all of you!
I’m on break so I’m just free to think about college decisions all day long! And my best friend just got into emory I’m so excited for her!! wooo!
I hope I get to woooo for myself on the 18th :frowning: Well, at least for you guys!

@ultrachtomatic, I am working on a psychological research at our state university. Our main goal is to come up with an equation :), it will be my second days of final two :(

@Omar, that’s so exciting! Best of luck to you and your research group! Have you entered any research competitions before?

And yay we can commiserate over getting our decisions in the midst of finals -_-

Ah you guys make me feel bad with your research! Then again, I’m a mock trial, moot court and speech and debate slave and I have internships with judges? They’re sort of lopsided, my EC’s but what can I say? I love law. UChicago better accept me or akdlbakxybfkf. Yea, I went there.

speech represent!

@carter @ironchariot YAYYY SPEECH AND DEBATE! do you guys specialize in a particular type of debate or event in speech? (WOO interp represent!)

I absolutely SUCK at impromptu speech! I always score low in Academic Decathlon because of it :frowning:
I started the club at my school so we just work with Parliamentary until one of the teachers can teach us something different. I don’t know if I wanna participate in Speech and Debate or Mock Trial in college.

IMPROMPTU FOR LIFE! seriously impromptu 5ever, and oratory too

Don’t worry, I suck at impromptu speech too! ._. And haha, Parliamentary’s actually one of the forms of debate my school’s speech and debate team doesn’t do (we do LD, PF, and Policy)! What’s it like? (I’m a speech-er, not really a debater, so I’m curious!)

nobody likes impromptu but me… same on my team, they all hate on it but it balances out cause I can’t do a reading event to save my life.

@ironchariot you must teach me your amazing impromptu ways sometime

I also love OO and OI :D

woo oo! and i can teach you if you want. i actually demonstrated a bit of impromptu for my uchicago interviewer because he’d never heard of it. maybe you can teach me how to interp!

It’s frustrating if you’re the opposition, at least for me. When the Prime Minister ends with something totally wrong, I can no longer rebut! I get angry and want to argue afterwards lmao I take this stuff way too seriously. We should definitely try to debate sometime though.

Hello Guys!!
Hope it’s not too late to join the discussion…I have viewed most of the posts on this thread and you guys are so lovely…

I am very nervous right now… I just hope I don’t get a heart attack before I hear from UChicago…

The competition is extremely intense this year…Besides I am an international… Besides I don’t have luring test scores (1400/1600 not even the bottom 25% of Chicago, besides it’s a 600CR+800M…which I think is the worst combination…) and GPAs (3.85/4)…But I do think my essay will somewhat help a little, at least it is creative (in my not so humble opinion)… But my language and grammar may not be so polished.

No extremely attractive ECs either… Besides I can play the piano and has performed on some school and public concerts (and I have a portfolio full of my performances). 3 years of volunteering…(I think volunteering is such a thing that you can’t tell who has really done it and who has faked it)… I don’t think that will help too much… Plus a failed Federal Economic Challenge experience…

BTW… anyone here know a website called “Parchment”?.. It can calculates the chance of admission… But I don’t know what method they are using… I got a 37% chance for UChicago… which is certainly not too bad… I just doubt it…

Anyways…Goodluck to all of you.

I use Parchment. They calculate using slightly old statistic, so their predictions must be taken with a grain of salt.

The essay is pretty important, so if yours truly is good, who knows what will happen. You might just get in.

It is never too late to join the party!!!
