UChicago EA Applicants 2019

That sounds really cool! Yeah I think my essays were the strongest part of my app so I’m hoping that maybe, just maybe, they will get me through [-O< lol

Applicant from Missouri, here. I made up my own essay prompt about cone photoreceptors.

One can but hope  But yeah, my acceptance pretty much hinges upon the essays.

Wow, seems like everyone’s essays where really cool. @hugzU this is probably a dumb question but what are cone photoreceptors?

haha yeah second that. where’s everyone applying RD?

Rice and Northwestern are next top picks. If those don’t work out I was already accepted into my safety school which I would be perfectly content with.

To be honest I won’t know about RD for sure until after this decision and UMich’s! Also applied to Purdue EA. I already have two acceptances, fortunately. UChicago is definitely my top choice though!

Already submitted my RD app to Cornell. Might do Northwestern, Rice, Berkeley, and USC. We’ll see.

Now I’m kind of doubting my essays because they don’t seem creative… at all… Ugh

My safeties are UNR, University of Utah, St. Johns
Matches: Rensselaer, Olin, UNC Chapel Hill, Georgia Tech, SMU
Reaches: Yale, UChicago!, Columbia, Pomona
But I’ve only done my safeties so far lol. I have yet to start any of the other essays :-SS I can’t wait until December is over… UGH I wish we could read each other’s essays! They all sound so cool!

I’m also applying to Berkeley and Columbia and possibly Rice… I’m a superlegacy at Rice haha, hope that helps me out :stuck_out_tongue: top choices for me are UChicago, Wesleyan, and Barnard. and @Awflapjackz‌, did you check out that super long the thread of uchicago essays? All sorts got people accepted, including the more traditional types!

@HydrophobicSeal‌, I am so intrigued about your extended essay…

@wethemusicmakers‌ I actually did look at that thread a lot when writing mine, but I usually ended up being jealous of the examples! Haha.

I keep daydreaming about the decision. Sometimes I think, “Oh, yeah. I definitely have a shot! I might get in!” And the next moment I’m feeling certain of a deferral and then a rejection. THIS IS TOO MUCH

Oh man I read that thread every day in spanish for like two weeks hahah. And yes exactly!! one moment I think, “how could they ever reject me. I am perfection.” and the next I have no faith at all. At least we’re all in it together.

omg yeah know the feeling haha! rice and northwestern seem pretty popular? :O

and same haha with columbia / berkeley / wesleyan! my other top choice is tufts  also thinking of jhu / washu / georgetown

Nice list you got there! I’m definitely lacking in safeties, unfortunately. My philosophy is kind of to wait for a rejection from UChicago and then worry about that haha. Gotta get on that…

Hmm I feel like my UChicago essay is dece, but I think it’s lacking that element of creativity or spark that admission committee likes. Guess we will find out in December haha

I just want to be accepted so badly! Just like the rest of you, of course. :)

I have loved UChicago for years, so it’s weird to think that I actually filled out an application, and now im just waiting in anticipation…

What are you guys interesting in studying at UChicago?

@awflapjackz yeah me too! STILL DOESN’T FEEL REAL haha! i’m interested in international studies / fundamental / japanese :D

I also feel like I should have signed up for an interview, but at the same time that could be a disaster for me…

@weepingmermaid‌ Nice! Wow, Japanese. I could probably never do that.

i’ve been doing japanese through high school haha :> what are you interested in? and nah don’t worry about it – i think they really mean ‘optional’ when they say it :)

@weepingmermaid‌ My high school doesn’t even offer Japanese. I’m really interested in the new molecular engineering program, and I’d like to minor in Germanic Studies if possible. Of course I’d have to get in first. :b
