UChicago EA Applicants 2019

i don’t hate my essay but i am not in LOVE with it. i feel like i wouldn’t ever be 100% satisfied though

dont ask how or why but I’m 99% sure i accidentally classically conditioned myself to clam up and feel like throwing up out of nervousness every time i get on CC

@Awflapjackz‌ your essays are great!

@GreyGarvin‌ good luck!!!

@Esat936‌ yeah mine are definitely nothing incredible. I haven’t even considered my commonapp essay honestly. What did you all write about there?

@ogacihcu‌ ABout living in different countries and how it’s affected my sense of identity.

@stephli Just dont come then. Watch a movie or read a book, keep your mind off of it.

I never got the email regarding the decision date. Anybody else?

I never got that email either, and I checked my spam folders too. Why would they only send it to some applicants?

@ogacihcu‌ so are yours!

@mbd2297‌ Don’t worry, it’s most likely there was some fault in sending it out to everyone.

Someone on the EA Facebook page just said they got into MIT and Caltech early action…HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO COMPETE WITH THAT???

@Esat936‌ I’m pretty sure there was no email regarding decision dates. There was only an announcement on the admissions website/tumblr etc. They’ll email us when decisions are viewable.

@Awflapjackz‌ okay so neither of us should have any problem getting in haha ah god I wish I wasn’t so hung up on UChicago

Ds essay: untranslatable word

@Localdreamer15‌ oh my god seriously?!?!?!?

@ogacihcu‌ we both have a chance! no worries!

oh no oh no now i have this fear of rejection

@Localdreamer15‌ Don’t think of it as a competition! MIT and Caltech are drastically different schools, and it sounds cliche but every applicant really is different. You have something to bring to the table that none of us has, and hopefully UChicago will see that. If they don’t, it’s their loss.

@GreyGarvin This is actually my dream (except reversed). But since I just got deferred from Georgetown the future’s looking pretty bleak

now i am starting to feel like i’ll be lucky to be deferred. funny how as they released a date i have become more and more pessimistic.

however, you are all really cool people, and i am just as excited to read about your decisions as my own!

@Awflapjackz‌ Look up the group “University of Chicago Class of 2019 Applicants” on facebook.

Good point @ogacihcu‌

Okay at this point it’s getting to be kind of comical on my end. I need to stop. I just set a countdown on my phone that plays Almost Lover by Fine Frenzy when I open it because I’m done haha I think I need to find a way to enjoy this instead of stressing about it all the time. I’m just going to study what I love to study, and I’d do it even if I didn’t go to college. I still think UChicago is the best, but honestly I’m done. If they don’t think I’m a strong enough applicant/good fit, I’m sure they know better than I do.

guys from the web it only says that UChicago is gonna send us the decision email when it becomes it available.

Another EA applicant here. Wednesday is also my dad’s 50th birthday, so here’s to the small chance that I’ll get to make him incredibly proud.

I picked the “Why are you here?” essay and wrote about Che Guevara and the the disconnect between the historical figure he is and the crass marketing gimmick he’s become. It’s my goal to work Che in somehow throughout all my supplements for each college I’m applying to. I wrote about my favorite book, Jonathan Lethem’s Dissident Gardens, in my Media essay.

…and no, I’m not an anarchist/socialist/communist, haha. Just happened to find these topics easy to write about.

@Localdreamer15‌ well now i get to wait to be accepted, hahaha
