UChicago EA Decisions Available 12/18

Good news, everyone—decisions will be released to your UChicago Account in the late afternoon on December 18th. We will send you an email to the email address you used to register for the Common Application when your decision is ready to be viewed in your account. We will also mail admitted student materials the following week. Deferred and denied students will not receive notification by mail.

Thanks as always for your hard work and patience, and please be reminded we cannot give decisions by phone, email, or any other means of communication except for the letter in your UChicago Account or in the mail.

(And, before you ask-- no, we don't yet know when "late afternoon" is just yet, so just try to hang tight until the 18th!)

Thank you!!!

Grace, Thanks a lot. As previously mentioned, we are lucky to have you in this forum. :)

You are most welcome! I won’t give out my old handle, but know that back in the early days of the Internet I was one of you, freaking out about college admissions decisions on College Confidential-- so trust me, I know how this goes, and I’m glad I can be helpful to all of you students and parents out there on CC :)

Thanks! You’ve been a lot of help with a lot of my questions, and I really can’t thank you enough.

Thank you so much for letting us know!! Good luck everyone!

thanks for YOUR patience, grace

thanks I can’t wait~~

Late afternoon central time-- I wonder how late it will be for the east coast 0:

I’ve always wondered: why do most colleges release decisions in the afternoon? I’ve always hated the endless waiting on day of decisions. Is it because you guys need the extra time to process them?

Hi Grace, I have one question: if someone gets into early decision school such as Columbia or William, but they also applied early in Chicago, will the admission of Chicago know that and withdraw their applications? Thank you so much!!

@sandravlk (I’m not Grace but I figured I’ll take this one) Generally, they have no way of knowing, so what you’d wanna do is sign into your UChicago account and near the top of the page there’s an application withdrawal form you need to fill out on your own if you need to withdraw your application.

Congratulations, by the way! :)

@ultrachromatic oh I am only helping my friend to ask because my school has a lot of students applied to U Chicago EA but also applied to ED. I only applied to U Chicago EA and didn’t apply to any ED schools. How about you ? Did u apply anywhere early ?

I am so excited for the EA applicants on this forum. My daughter applied EA and is so anxious to get the results. UChicago is her first choice by far with no other school as a close second, so I know how nervous you all are for the decisions.

I’ve been reading posts for several weeks, learning more about the school, applicants, etc. I am just so impressed with the individuals on the UChicago forum. You are such interesting people and UChicago will be lucky to have you in their community.

Good luck!

@sandravlk Oh! Sorry, my mistake  But yeah, someone accepted ED needs to log into their UChicago prospects account and fill out the application withdrawal form. As for me, I applied to UChicago EA and a couple of others, but no EDs either. Good luck to you! :)

If you are accepted to an ED school, you are responsible for notifying us of your withdrawal from our applicant pool even if you have not yet heard your admissions decision from us. You can do this either by logging in to your UChicago Account and filling out the application withdrawal form, or by emailing your regional admissions counselor to let them know you’d like to withdraw your application.

I’m so glad I’m on the west coast, so it won’t feel like as long of a wait.

It’s really nice to have a date now, I’ve been compulsively checking my submittal page (or whatever it’s called) for a few days now! Now I just have to make myself wait a little bit longer…

Oh great, the decisions come out on my birthday! eeeeek!

Hi Grace. Thank you for your answer. Do you know if my friends withdraw their application before the 18th, will the admission know and change the decision? Thank you!
