@katkatkatkat email your regional admissions counselor and sign the waiver. This email and waiver are both ‘due’ by January 6th (I highly doubt they have to come at the same time), I’m emailing my counselor tomorrow and hopefully getting my waiver in sometime soon, but my school is on break right now. They made a blog post on it about the UnCommon Blog if you want to download the waiver…sorry I don’t have the link!

@mamtamalpani, I have not seen one single post about merit being awarded. If you look at last year’s posts there were already multiple merit scholarships attached as a link to the acceptance letters.
Deferred EA
Does anyone know why ED1 deferred applicants can’t reapply to ED2?
@goingnutsmom I got merit, though it was very, very small and simply a guarantee from the program I did there over the summer

maybe they are waiting to reward all merit scholarships until after ED II…?
Got the Odyssey Scholarship but idk if anyone else received any bigger scholarships.
Good for you guys!! I don’t know how UChicago will parcel out the merit with the new options- EDI and ED I. All I know is that there were a number of EA applicants posting last year regarding merit- from small amounts to large amounts.
@goingnutsmom Do you plan on writing to them asking if they’ll release the awards later? So many people last year got merit scholarships with their early confirmations. Do you think they’ll prefer EA admits for merit to induce them to enroll?
Do only ED admits get the mail package? Do EA admits only get it after they confirm enrolment?
Is any international applicant asking their regional counsellor about merit scholarships?

Are all deferral letters the same for Chicago?

The Committee will reconsider your application and any new information you send in the Regular Decision pool. Please arrange for your mid-year report and an updated transcript to be sent to our office as soon as they are available.
If you would like to update us on your recent accomplishments, we would be glad to review additional materials. We prefer that you submit these materials through the Portfolio in your UChicago Account. Materials must be received by January 31, 2017. Decisions will be sent by the end of March, and if admitted, you will have until May 1, 2017 to reply.
