I guess I would have been proactive about contacting my colleges, had it unavoidably ended up on my record, instead of sweating about whether they’ve looked at my mid-year report. A letter of contrition can go a long way toward redeeming someone - no word at all makes it look like you are trying to avoid the issue and hope they don’t notice.
@TheShortSon - Even if they have made a decision, if they haven’t communicated it to you, they can change their mind and would change the acceptance to a rejection. If you are rejected, chances are you will never know why. Agree with @JBStillFlying sometimes dealing with it is better than hoping they don’t find out.
@123Mom456 Exactly! That’s what bothers me. Not knowing why I was rejected. I would rather be rejected due to a weak application than due to a mid year report. As a legacy applicant who wrote unique essays for UChicago, I thought I had a chance. Now, I will never know what was it that led to my rejection. However, they have probably made my decision without referring to my Mid Year Report, and if I am accepted, then my application may be rescinded.
@JBStillFlying There isn’t much purpose in sending a letter of contrition now. If I am accepted tomorrow, I shall write it.
@TheShortSon - Good Luck! But do keep in mind that unfortunately there are just less spots than there are qualified applicants. Not getting in doesn’t mean you weren’t qualified, it just means they did not have room for you.
@123Mom456 It seems like most, if not all, legacy applicants that were not admitted were first waitlisted then rejected. If I am straight rejected, then they may have taken my mid year report into account.
Just speculating. You know on CommonApp when a document is uploaded it is labeled as “submitted” and then “downloaded?” Well, my parent ED agreement still shows as “submitted,” whereas my counselor ED agreement has been “downloaded.” Check to see if that is the same with your application. If they did not view my parent ED agreement, does that mean they rejected me? If you were to be accepted, they would probably check the parent ED agreement.
I think I have gone crazy. Lol. Decisions have been made. Good luck to everyone!
You can check the portal and see what is listed under the “We have received the following documents from you:” and “Application ChecklistApplication Submitted:”
What are the dates listed.
Relax I seriously doubt anything would impact the outcome tomorrow.
@fbsdreams Everything except for ED agreement says 12/28/2016 on the portal. ED agreement says 1/11/2017. Btw, you are probably right that nothing will change decision this late.
I hope, as a legacy applicant with decent stats, I have a chance.
Did you guys receive an official email about the date they are going to release the ED2 decisions? I’m just worried because I didn’t get one.
They announced it on Twitter and FB. No one got an e-mail.
Thanks!!
agh! school tomorrow is going to be awful having to wait!! nonetheless, good luck to everybody, and know that you did your best and put forth a great effort no matter what decision you get tomorrow! wishing you all well!¡
Just found out I am a National Merit Finalist today- should I email UChicago? They already knew I was a Semifinalist, and the difference is minor, but it still seems potentially relevant.
@cecil1994 Decisions come out tomorrow. It won’t have an impact at all.
@cecil1994 you can still quickly e-mail your admissions counselor. My daughter found out late last week and that e-mail went out quickly because you just never know.
Predictions on how many ED II applications they are looking at? For fun let’s see if we can break it down to EA-Deferred vs. first-timer.
