Our Early Action deadline for the University of Chicago has been extended to November 8 for anyone who has been having technical difficulties with the Common Application. Students who have not been experiencing difficulties are encouraged to submit their application by our original deadline, November 1. The Common App will allow submission through November 8 even though we are aware that the Common App website still reflects our deadline as November 1. It is not necessary to call or email our office to ask to take advantage of the extended deadline.

Thank you, UChicago.

Finally! Without conditions…

Is still Nov. 1 for EA CSS profile submission ? Or, Nov 8 ?

Since the CSS Profile service is not experiencing any delays or difficulties with their system, we hope that students and parents will still submit the Profile by our original November 1st deadline.

It’s great for having UChicago admin here at the forum. Thanks a lot.

We just realized that EA deadline in common app was correctly change to Nov. 8th. :)

Hello, I have a question about financial aid. When you fax in your tax returns do you need your non custodial parent also, even if they’ve filled out the ncpCSS profile?

I found the answer. Sorry.

If we turn in our applications by the 8th, but after the 1st, are we going to be penalized at all?

The timing of your application will have no influence on your likelihood of admission; you are no less likely to be admitted if you apply by November 8 as you are if your application is in by November 1.

Thanks a ton!

This whole thing has really been worrying me, and it is nice to have some clarity on the deadline.

Grace, help…
SO I didn’t realize that we had to submit the css profile by the 1st-- i thought it was extended like the common app was.
Is it too late to turn it in now?

It is not too late to turn in the CSS profile, don’t worry! While we would like to have received it by the 1st, we are fully able to consider financial aid materials that come in after our deadline at no negative impact to a student’s application.

Thank you! My hope’s come back again!

Woah this is the first time I’ve heard of this CSS profile. Could someone explain what to me what that is? I’ve already applied to a few schools and am planning to apply to UChicago but I haven’t sent any CSS profiles. Will that affect my admission status? Thanks a lot.

The CSS Profile relates to financial aid. It is managed by the College Board. I filled out for my kids who went to college. I do not think it will affect your admissions, but I would get with your parents and, probably, school counselor to get started on it asap. The UChicago cannot give its financial aid decision without it.

I am extremely worried–my common app is still malfunctioning despite contacting the site and sending multiple emails. The family section does not have that “green check” that says it is complete, despite the fact I’ve double, triple, quadruple checked that everything is completed. I can’t submit it with this problem. What do I do?

memrmaidgirl, I would encourage you to be in touch with the Common App help services as they should (hopefully) be able to troubleshoot this problem for you-- unfortunately we do not have any ability to fix problems through the Common App, although if it continues not to work, will welcome your application materials in a different format (emailed, mailed, faxed) if necessary.
