UChicago First Year Taking Questions

@peter1412 - How important are the extracurriculars in an application? I mean, obviously, ECs alone cannot make or break an application, but looking at your stellar ones, I realize how few and insipid mine are.
There is also the question of financial aid. Being an international student myself, I am distinctly troubled by the need-aware-ness of my application. My parents’ financial situation is quite similar to that of yours, thus leading me to request financial aid of about 75%. If you don’t mind me asking, how tall was your fin-aid request?

thanks @peter1412 for the helpful answers!

+1 for females feeling safe on the 6/metra at night. My one concern would be how confident your D is in navigating a new city and getting off at the right stop.

My parents always loved the Medici but I grew sick of it over my time there  If you have time, go to the “new” Z&H right next door for lunch-- it’s the one with the garage door-- and do make sure you stop by the Med Bakery for me!

For the cold, LL Bean is your friend. I loved me some long underwear (silk or wool) and found the winters quite tolerable with the right accessories.
