UChicago-has anyone gotten a decision from them?

bleargh. it's hard for me to focus on the stuff i have to do, quite frankly. i just wish i could know already!

anything today?

someone siad he/she got in today on the blog
so it's coming guys!!@!@%$#%Y#@#%^

I don't exactly trust the blog, or anyone posting on it...

another person posted and he says he got deffered
well guess it's real guys

does anyone know how long mail takes to neighboring states?

arghh, I'm overseas... maybe I should have them mail it to my mom's house rather than my house - but I want to be the first to know!

Priority mail (basically things like envelopes less than 13 ounces) takes 1-3 days, at least for the lower 48 states.

So if they were all sent out on the 18th, which was when the person in the blog said his/her deferral was postmarked, we should hopefully find out by Saturday.

for those who were rejected: was it a thin, regular envelope?

for those who were accepted: was it a large envelope/package or a small thin envelope?

can anyone on here confirm that they received a decision

there must be more ppl than this!
plz post ur decisions if you got it
thx

i got in!!

hey congratulations p reepa!
can you tell us what state you are from?
man this waiting is really painstaking

eh, let's just say i'm about 4 hrs away from chicago. i can pm you if you want.

Good luck guys - all I can say is at least it isn't last year.

p reepa, would you mind posting your stats/profile?

I would love to see stats from the acceptees. Congrats, all. My son has applied regular notic.

no prob...

soph. transfer
~3.7 gpa hs
3.9 gpa college
2270 sat I taken in hs
760 x 2 sat II
hs courseload - toughest.
hs ec's - good. heavily involved in music. had academic honors like national merit finalist etc.
college courseload - organic chem I+II, some physics, quantum mech., an intro english course, computer science, mv calc, philosophy.
college ec's - holding down a couple research positions, volunteering, some student orgs.
prospective major - physics.
recs - i'm sure these were very good. i guess i got lucky because i go to a state school.
essays - i was happy with how they turned out.
interview - good...the person who interviewed me is the father of a friend, so he knew a bit about me.

i think what helped me in the process was my courseload (i was able to get out of most of the intro courses thanks to AP credit), recs, and my essays. although the long essay prompt could have warranted a very creative response, i chose to be straightforward and direct. i did a lot of research on the school and made it clear that i knew what i was talking about in my writing...i thought that was really the key with transfer essays. other than this stuff, maybe it was my desire to obtain a solid undergraduate education as opposed to viewing academics as a means to an end. i made that clear to my interviewer as well. anyway, sorry for the long post. please let me know if there's anything i can answer or make more clear...i'm free to help.

good luck to everyone who is still waiting.

it's no surprise you were admitted, you seem very qualified.....

Denied.

Kind of want to kill myself, actually. I really wanted it.

Congratulations to everyone who got in.
