Has this thread already been made? If not, post away! Hold on i'll get the format real quick

I already have a format typed out for the MIT forum- I'll post it here in half a sec.

Oops! I just posted a format. =P

If you’ve looked at past decisions threads, you know the drill- erase all the spaces in the brackets, and fill in the form to the best of your ability, even if the result wasn’t what you were hoping for. Keep in mind that you filling this out now will greatly help next year’s applicants (and on that note, update your Stats Profiles, too).

Best of luck to all. Que sera, sera- it will all work out for the best.

I wonder why they haven't posted it yet on the blog. Some people are interested in statistics. ^^

Anyway, congratulations to all who got in. For the deferred, there's still hope - send in lots of stuff expressing your interests in the University and your fit.

[]Essays: Why Chicago -- I took a horrible classroom experience and said Chicago was the antithesis of all of that, and I also talked about how I wanted to go to Hogwarts. Interests -- My love for Ian McEwan and the game Nethack. Extended -- The picture essay, about meeting my long-distance Internet boyfriend. It was really, really heartfelt.
[]Teacher Recs: Math was filled with plastic enthusiasm, but my history teacher...it was lovely. I love her and she loves me back.
[]Counselor Rec: No idea, but it was probably pretty good and nicely personalized since she used to provide me with "lunchtime sessions" in elementary school. Let's just say I had Harriet the Spy syndrome.
[]Supplementary Material: Nada.
[]Hook: I'm a normal white kid with no outstanding ECs. No hook. I swear it.[/ul]
Personal[ul]
[]Location: Upstate New York. It's quite rural around here.
[]High School Type: Public
[]Ethnicity: Half Filipina, half random amalgamation of West Europeans, but I didn't specify.
[]Gender: Female
[]Applied for Financial Aid: Da[/ul]
Other[ul]
[]Extracurriculars: Nothing special -- NHS, band, jazz band, personal webdesign. Oh, and I play acoustic guitar and put the covers on YouTube. Some of the people who read the blog might have caught that.
[]Awards: National Merit Semifinalist, uh...departmental awards for highest average in _____, a couple Science Olympiad regional medals. Nothing earth-shattering.
[li]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: To future (and even RD) applicants -- you DO NOT have to be SuperKid who has five zillion ECs and is president of everything and its mother to get in UChicago. Be passionate, be smart, and show it. I think my application made it really clear that I didn't live my life according to what I wanted colleges to see, but I showed a lot of passion and interest for everything I love to do, and even though I didn't join every club and devote all my time to it so I could be a "leader," I spent my time pursuing my interests in my own ways. I didn't have the money to fly across the country to visit the school but I showed my interest in my essays, I didn't have 500 community service hours (hell, I barely have 100), I didn't have more than six ECs and only two of them really took up a significant amount of time...I'm just a normal kid who loves to learn about anything and everything, and I'm thrilled that UChicago saw that in me.
[/li]

I hope this calms some of your nerves. Good luck to the deferred and those applying RD![/ul]
