UChicago On-Campus Interview experience

Hey guys! Since I just had an on-campus interview, I thought I would help out anyone who might want to interview on-campus.

I think this interview was probably my best. I believe most of the interviewers are UChicago students, although that might depend on the day/time you go. She took notes, but it didn’t really affect the conversation because she only wrote while I was talking. The interview is about 20-30 minutes so it was actually pretty short! There were no curveball questions, just very standard ones like “Why Uchicago”, “What’s your favorite book”, “Favorite classes”, and “Tell me about your friend group”. I think the questions might change depending on whether you’ll have an actual admissions officer or a student but there weren’t any hard ones. Obviously, have questions prepared to ask that aren’t obviously on the site and I think mentioning the core curriculum might be helpful to answer the why uchicago question. Also, make sure to come around 15 minutes early - sometimes, they’ll start the interview earlier or later than your designated time. Good luck everyone!

I had a similar experience to @ravenclaws. My UChicago interview was probably my best. It was one of the only ones that truly felt like a conversation. Good luck to all!

Do you feel the interview impacted your chance of being accepted? I’m pretty good at talking with people and feel that it would improve my chances of getting in (considering I may not have the strongest academic profile for UC), but im not so sure if it will.

@ZombieSoccer I heard it doesn’t have a huge impact on your application. It most likely just shows your commitment to that school but I don’t think it’d make or break your application.
