I am very interested in the sciences and am looking for a school with great academics, student-professor relationships, out-of-class oppertunities (ie: research), and a fun, kind student body. Which of these two schools (Brown and UChicago) seems to be the fit?

both!
(though my vote would go to brown, hands down--while chicago is reputedly "where fun goes to die" brown is ranked as the happiest school year after year)

What is this "dying fun" business? We have a lot of fun here! =)

Either -- both. Both fit your criteria. Totally personal choice. Chicago accepts a higher percentage of students.

I hope you are aware that UChicago has a core curriculum, and Brown has an open curriculum. That's a huge difference, although some people are fine with both.

I agree that both fit your criteria; no reason why you can't apply to both. I quite like both schools and really regret not applying to UChicago. It might come down to location, the cure curriculum, or another secondary (to you) criterion.

it depends i think on the type of atmosphere you prefer. brown is more homely, whereas chicago seems a bit more fast paced. im sure you can have fun there, i mean -its chicago

You might a chance to talk to reps from each school if this event is held near you: Exploring Educational Excellence-Information Sessions

Thanks for all the imput!
