Hey folks,

I just got into uchicago (woo!) but I have some major fears about being a pre-med there. From what I've heard, and read on these threads, I am getting mixed, mostly negative feedback.
This topic may be exhausted on those other threads, but I really need to know, how bad is it really? The whole "If I wanted an A, I'd go to Harvard" and such is freaking me out.
Please, if you are familiar with premed there, or if by some miracle you are a current UChi premed and decide to respond, I would greatly appreciate it!

I’m premed, and an athlete. It’s doable. I have a life, i have a gf, socialize, go downtown, frat parties when i feel like it, and concerts once in a while. This school is harder than harvard, thats why we made rhat tshirt design (its a joke like the rest of our shirts, so don’t freak out!). We have a quirky sense of humor here :)

Is it hard to maintain a higher GPA, in your opinion…? Not asking for any numbers, just wondering if I’ll be able to get a solid GPA for med school… Thanks! :)

It’s do-able. It’s a challenge - as all worthy things are - but maintaining a solid GPA isn’t difficult at UChicago if you time-manage well. My roommate last year is a pre-med, and she likes to take 3 classes (instead of four) during quarters when she’s worried about a particularly difficult Biology or O-Chem class. This way, she has a little more time to concentrate on it.

Thank you, this is all great advice! And…

BUMP! :)
