Am I supposed to list the favorites or does it need to be a descriptive/narrative essay on why I like what I like?

I am from Nepal and sort of fell in love with the college some six months ago ( may sound silly coz neither have I visited the college nor have known/met anyone associated with it).

The real problem is that I have asked for loads of aid, actually a full ride. What effect does it have on my prospects of getting admitted to UChicago? Will UChicago accept me if one student from my country had already got in with aid during EA (Though, I don’t have info if anyone has got in).

prd1993, students choose many forms for this essay; some type of prose is preferred, but a list is still acceptable.

specific, we do accept international students who have financial need every year. We are need-aware for international students, so we do consider your need when we are evaluating your application, but we do find ways to accept and fund exceptional international students with significant need every year.

Hello everyone,
First time on the forum!!!
My s was admitted to Uchicago but we have not recieved any news about the preliminary financial aid packet yet. Is it supposed to come in the mail or does he need to look somewhere in his Uchicago account?
Thanks.

redscorpion, congrats to your son! Your son should find the aid estimate in his UChicago Account if you submitted documents by the Nov. 1 deadline. If later, the estimate will come in the next few weeks. Contact college-aid@uchicago.edu if you submitted your documents on time and do not have an estimate in the account.

Hi , I know it is kinda late , but I have some problems
My high school transcript does not supply information for my 9th grade, since in Viet Nam 9th grade is in another school level.
My GPA is base on my high school grades though .
Is it important for me to get the 9th grade GPA and submit it later , since it would take a lot of time to recollect my information in 9th grade ?
Have you guys answer this kind of question before ?
Please let me know asap
Thank you

phhaiptnk, you should e-mail internationaladmissions@uchicago.edu with this question; I do not know the answer but the international team deals with these sorts of questions regularly.

Hi Grace, I asked you before on page 49, and you said I should have access to my account in a week. I send my email to collegeadmission@uchicago.edu but they haven’t reply yet.
If I cannot access my UChicago account before Jan 3rd, can I mail my ISFAA form to the office of Admission in advance and upload the scanned version later?
I am looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. I am so nervous now.
Thank you so much and Happy New Year!

Sputnik, go ahead and try e-mailing internationaladmissions@uchicago.edu; if they do not respond by tomorrow, please feel free to mail in a copy of your ISFAA and follow up with an electronic copy once you have access to your account.

Hi Chicago. I am asking on behalf of a friend, she had setbacks which caused her to be delayed in applying for colleges. She’d like to know if the deadline is January 2nd 11:59pm CSTor January 3rd 11:59pm CST? Does the application have to be submitted before 1/3/11 or before 1/4/11?

collegekang, we take suggestions from admitted students, current students, and alumni in the Spring.

calison, the application deadline is Jan. 3, 11:59pm in your time zone. This is the deadline for submitting the Common App and UChicago supplement. It is OK if mailed documents arrive after the deadline.

Most top college make regional selection for international students. I was wondering about UChicago’s policy concerning this.
And if it can be answered and if it applies to UChicago, is that ‘region’ geographical or is it based on competitiveness of applicant pool from that country?

khittee, I am not involved in international admissions, so I do not know the answer to this question. You may feel free to e-mail it to our international team at internationaladmissions@uchicago.edu.

Hi, I have a quick question about the extended supplemental essay. If I were to use essay option 5 would it be acceptable to use a prior essay prompt from UChicago?

Essay Option 5: In the spirit of adventurous inquiry, pose a question of your own. If your prompt is original and thoughtful, then you should have little trouble writing a great essay. Draw on your best qualities as a writer, thinker, visionary, social critic, sage, citizen of the world, or future citizen of the University of Chicago; take a little risk, and have fun.

Hi Grace, I was deferred and the web says “Send an email to your regional counselor”. Could you please tell me to whom I should send (I’m an intl from China)? And if I want to restate my faith in UChicago, should I tell him/her in email or I could upload an essay in my UChicago account?

And can I upload this semester’s transcript by myself in my account? Or I should send it via mail to UChicago?

Hi Grace, I am really worried because I made a small unintentional error in one of my essays to UChicago. I unintentionally mentioned a different institution’s name in place of UChicago in an essay. I just noticed it and now I am extremely anxious if it’s going to be held against me severely. Could you please help me on how to rectify this inadvertent error? Many thanks!
