ychinny-- there will not be a separate update in your account with these scores, as they will just go under the banner “official test scores”. The submission system from testing services is very reliable, so you may rest assured that we have received the scores.

Foraminifera, thank you! Always nice to hear :)

I know the question about “likely letters” is recurring in this forum, a may be even annoying at this point. We understand the concept of these letters, and know that if we do not receive one it does not mean our chances of acceptance are lower. We get that. On the other hand, it is exciting to get one. So can you please tell us if your office has sent/is sending/will send likely letters this year to students other than recruited athletes. Thank you so much!

tinmarin, we do send out likely letters to non-athletes in the regular decision pool. I am not involved in the sending process and do not know when they will be sent.

Thank you so much for addressing my question, Grace.

If you happen to hear from your likely-letters-handling colleagues about when these letters are/will be out, would you mind letting us know? Thanks.

I was accepted EA with a merit scholarship of $10k per year. As a National Merit Finalist, can I receive an additional scholarship?

If so, when do I have to report to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation that UChicago is my top choice (I’m still undecided) to still receive the scholarship?

Hi Grace, I know you’re not involved in the process of sending out likely letters, but might you know approximately how many of those are sent each year? Thanks!

alsoomsecatori, yes, National Merit finalists who rank UChicago as their first choice school will receive either a $1,000 per year (for students who do not qualify for aid) or $2,000 per year (for students who qualify for aid) scholarship for four years. You will need to check with the college aid office (college-aid@uchicago.edu) to find out the timeline for declaring UChicago a first choice-- I can’t remember when the deadline is but it should give you plenty of time to make a decision and to notify NMSC.

snipersas, to my knowledge the likely letters are done online, although you may receive a paper mailing as well. All admitted students, including those who received likely letters, will receive a paper mailing with their official offer of admission in March.

BlackBunny no, we do not-- we only contact students who are missing materials. If you have not heard from us, you may assume your application is complete.

Hi Grace! I was just wondering if it’s too late to send in updates that I couldn’t put on the Mid-Year report to my regional admissions counselor. Thanks!

2000206, while you are welcome to email these updates to your regional counselor, at this time, I cannot guarantee that they will be something we are able to consider as we make admissions decisions.

host1994, no, we do not have an official decision release date finalized yet. As with early action, I will post on CC as soon as we have finalized the date.

amiejiyoon, we do ask for the midyear report from regular decision applicants; your application can still be reviewed without it, but we really do like to have it before we make a final decision. We would prefer to have an official grade report instead of your IB predicted scores, but if the predicted scores are the only report of your performance that your school is able to send at this time, please send them.

rockpaper, no, if you are not applying for financial aid you do not need to submit your parents’ tax return.

aquiade, we are still in the decision-making process for regular decision applicants. We will have more information about our overall acceptance rate after decisions are released.

adamb-- good question! Some rooms in Max Palevsky, Snell-Hitchcock, Pierce Tower, and South Campus (namely: those that are up high and north-facing) have views of the Chicago skyline.
