^i guess that means rejections will come out soon?

Tuesday? Wouldn’t they need to see the amount of space available after wednesday, then decide to only admit w/ gap year?

Yeah I think that fb group is just for students already admitted rd/ea who chose to take a gap year. I don’t see anything about the WL

RELAX

Last year gap students came out first a few days before waitlist rejections came out (5/4)). Gap year students are made after Regular decisions and are I think made of people from the waitlist. And the facebook group is official I believe because the admin is a regional officer (also an admin of the UChicago Official Group of 2017.) Hopefully bad news doesn’t come soon
I really want to get into UChicago and I havent even sent in my letter of continued interest yet :(

2017hopeful,

do you know if waitlist decision could come out next week?

I’m not sure… maybe Uchicago could answer :)? Although I do know the waitlist closed last year on 5/4, but maybe this year will be different.
Oh but here is a part of what I was reading.
“and according to a few posters on here, some have already been taken off the waitlist, others taken off the waitlist with the condition that they take a gap year and enroll in the class of '18.”

hey 2017hopeful,

have you heard anything else about the waitlist from UChicago themselves?

Not yet, but I will probably email my regional officer tomorrow after my AP Econ practice exam!

2017hopeful,

Do you think they will be able to admit more students from the waitlist this year since they had overenrolled last year and now have accepted less this year to the point where there may be more available spots in the class of 2017?

:( I wish I knew, but I will try asking and if I get an answer I will post it on here!

thanks, 2017hopeful

2017hopeful,

the things that sucks about being waitlisted is the actual “wait” and that decisions usually come in the middle of may (right in the middle of AP testing)…

^agreed,
i dont have the mood to study when something is hanging.

Luckily I only have four APs. utbeatsou good luck with your six! gonna be a rough two weeks :(

thanks, Zeruel95

and good luck on all your AP tests!!

That gap year group on Facebook is for students who were admitted during EA and RD and are thinking of deferring admission for a year to take a gap year. It’s had nothing to do with the waitlist.

why is the waitlist result so late this year…

Hi all, wow, prolific posting this weekend! I do not have more information about the waitlist at this time. Rest assured we hope to communicate with students soon as to whether or not the waitlist will or will not be an option this year, but I do not have more information on the timing of this just yet.

As some have asked, the gap year student’s Facebook group does not have anything to do with the waitlist. The group exists for students who have chosen or are considering choosing to take a gap year before joining us on campus.

Ah, sorry I probably should have looked more into it before alerting so many people!

@UChicago So do you mean that we will receive a letter from UChicago telling us whether there will be a waitlist this year? Also will you tell us when people start getting off of the waitlists? Do the news all come out on the same day or is it rolling? Thanks!

hey uchicago,

do you guys do waitlist decisions on the weekends or is it only on the weekdays?
