[]Essays: Solid. I kept my two "short" answers relatively formal (the second was perhaps a bit too whimsical to be considered formal in any sense), and the long essay was me in all my snarky glory.
[]Teacher Recs: I'm very sure my math teacher said I was lazy. No clue what my English teacher said. Both at least respect me.
[]Counselor Rec: Should be glowing.
[]Supplementary Material: A small selection of my artwork, none of which would've embarrassed me, and the text of a speech I delivered in diversity--one that positively drips in snark and sarcasm, not to mention personality. It was a good speech though, or so claimed the entirety of the school that wasn't offended by it, and only one or two of the faculty were offended.
[]Hook: I dropped out of one of the most prestigious high schools in the country in my sophomore year. To my credit, I dropped out with a 4.0 GPA (4.8 or so weighted). Still dropped out though. I did explain it a little in my Why Chicago? essay. It pretty much boils down to test-based learning and the competitive atmosphere.[/ul] Personal[ul]

[li]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: Honestly, I'm not surprised, and I'm not terribly disappointed. After I got deferred, I was very upset, but then I started looking at all the other schools on my list and really thinking about what I wanted. I realized that Chicago is an amazing school, but maybe not what I'm looking for (a liberal arts college). So when I got into Wesleyan a week ago, Chicago's decision became irrelevant for me.
[/li]

I'm still disappointed, of course, and it doesn't feel good to have not even been waitlisted. But I had already decided that I'd almost definitely choose Wesleyan over Chicago anyway. So, it looks like Wesleyan for me unless I get into Swarthmore. Congratulations to everyone admitted!! From my (limited) experience, those who are accepted are truly deserving.

[]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:
I was really nervous about this after getting Rejected at MIT and Waitlisted at Caltech. Thanks U of Chicago!!! I advise for future applicants putting a LOT of time into the main essay, because it's really trying to bring out your creativity - a quality that UChicago specifically looks for in an applicant. Also, don't go overboard with APs and ECs. Do what brings out your passion. I chose/choose to take 12AP classes and 14 actual exams because A) I'm freaking crazy and B) I take pride in pushing myself to the limits of my sanity. :D parties [/ul]

SAT: 2140
SAT II: 740 Lit, 700 USHist
Rank: ~25% (this killed me)
Essays: pretty good, creative
Recs: amazing rec from history teacher, so-so rec by science teacher, guidance counselor loves me.
Extracurriculars: Academic Decathlon, competitive writing, choir, Spanish Club, FBLA (with various leadership positions in all of them)
Awards: National Merit Commended, Student of the Week Award, etc.

My advice? Start on the essays EARLY. I made the mistake of writing mine a day or two before the deadline (both for UChic and my ED school).

Surprisingly, I'm quite okay with this decision, despite the fact that I've been obsessed with the university for the past few months. I still think I could have done well there though. Oh well. C'est la Vie.

Congrats to all of the accepted, and good luck to the waitlisted!
