UChicago RD Stats/Decisions Thread

They better extend the decision-deadline:D

Oh well. More waiting. Rice gave me all my credit.

Nspeds: Bets on if Gerald will really post a message tomorrow? :D

I was actually thinking about that.

Something tells me he likes us admitted students, though, so I am not going to put down a wager: ) : )

Edit: HAH! 3456 post count.

That's me on the board about HIST 380. Mrrr.

Does anybody have any news?

I've called a couple of times but no one answers...I'm really hoping they mail out decisions today I'm going crazy over here

I feel like if they made our decisions and we asked they would give it to us, but Im kinda scared of calling again :( damn it Chicago. DAMN IT.

At least we're only waiting a week, some EAers waiting more than 3-4 weeks.

They should send every applicant cookies or something to make up. Or an acceptance letter, whatever suits them.

I am an EAer who has been told I would get my decision tomorrow just about every day for the last five weeks. Still nothing. I have resigned myself to the worst but continue to maintain a small glimmer of hope. It would be nice to just put this past me, regardless of the outcome.

They should at least send a dozen cookies to you...

But really, thats just mest up. I mean its not like this is a nonprofit organization that is doing this stuff FOR us - we paid them a nice amount of money to do this, and its a large, established university and I just dont see how what they did to the EAers is acceptable in any way. Especially with the whole email incident...***???

Like I said, if Chicago wasnt my 1st choice I would have already forgotten about the school, after *****ing and cursing to them directly of course. We all live in a yellow submarine.

I was in Chicago a couple of weeks ago. I went by Loyola's downtown campus to make a deposit to hold my spot in case Chicago or Northwestern don't work out. I had an opportunity to speak with an admissions person about my Chicago ordeal. She confided to me something no one at U of C would never admit for obvious reasons. Basically she told me that transfers are the lowest priority for private schools. Their money comes from freshman admissions and that is where their time and resources go. Of course, they all hold back a small number of transfer slots, but they could easily do without them. We just have to face the unfortunate fact that we are second class citizens up until the time we are actually matriculated - if that ever happens, of course.

Yes, but this is not by sheer virtue of us being transfer students.

The fact is, there are significantly more freshman applicants than transfers, and of course a university must pay more attention to their freshman admits. We are not inherently bad, but schools simply have other priorities.

Agreed. I recognize the reality of the numbers and the necessity to prioritize. However, it is unacceptable for any school to promise timelines and then fail to meet them with no explanation. Applicants do not exist in a vacuum. Most are waiting to make final decisions based on the outcome of their U of C application. This behavior ranges from incompetent to arrogant - I'm not sure which is worse.

I agree.....

the only way to properly compensate us for this agony is to admit us ;)

or cookies God damn it! Im hungry and waiting for all these decisions, even though I know I'm probably going to get rejected, is painful.

And I have to write a 5 page essay right now. Should be simple enough, but I can't concentrate.

jacknjill, tell me about it! I keep trying to wrap my head around mine, and I just wind up obsessively logging in to the site to check...

Its official. I was just rejected. Good luck to everyone in getting what you want in life.

Did anybody get accepted today? Also, does anyone know how many ppl applied to transfer this year? (I know the stats for last year.)

I just found out that I was accepted (via phone)!!!!!
