no that does not mean u r getting rejected
1.) like said before, fin aid office has no connection with admissions office
2.) fin aid office people are really laid back about all the forms, they don’t set a hard deadline, so dw…

keep ur hope, up; nvr know til u see the decision

*I’ve heard multiple times that the Financial Aid Office has no connection whatsoever to the Admissions Office. *

I wonder if it’s more the other way around…The admissions people don’t know who has applied for aid, BUT the FA people know who have been accepted so that they can put together the FA packages. I doubt the FA people put together packages for all applicants; I think they only put them together for accepted students. But, I could be wrong.

There’s no harm in having the FA people know who is admitted. It doesn’t hurt the “need blind” process. However, the other way around does.

^Right, it doesn’t make sense for the FA office to put together 15,000 aid packages or however many people apply for aid, and then only send out 2,000 or so. Although this is just speculation on my part…

No…not unless the decisions are on the 19th. And, even then, they still have some decisions to make still. If decisions truly do come out around April 1st, then you don’t really think that they’re going to be sitting there twiddling their thumbs for half a month, do you?

Lol as today is selection sunday this is a fairly apt metaphor… Their minds will be made up and sealed for most but there are probably not an insignificant number of “bubble applications” of which the committee is desciding between Admit and Waitlist.

April 1st has always been the official line, and I honestly don’t think it’ll be later than last yr’s 25/26th (I pray for 19th). While certainly the folks in office won’t be putting up their feet talking about the best essays in the coming wk, I 'd imagine that they’d be in a stage of tying up some loose ends on the final pool. Even if it is April 1st, it is hard to think that they’re still looking at debating a couple of thousand files in the final working week, then matching the financials and “fit” to the admit pool right up to April 1st. Of course this is me talking, who only know abt the word “admissions” since last Dec. (Note: many schools seem to chunk out decisions earlier this yr e.g. UCLA surprised most yesterday)

I agree that Duke wins it all, but I don’t even think Texas will get out of the first round.

Elite Eight: Kansas, Georgetown, Kentucky, W. Virginia, Syracuse, Pitt, Duke, and, though it seems REALLY unlikely, I think the Irish will squeak by 'Nova.
Final Four: Kansas, W. Virginia, Pitt, and Duke.
Final: Kansas vs. Duke
Champion: Duke.

Umm… Texas over Maryland is impossible I believe, and if it was possible, EXTREMELY unlikely since both of them suck. (“Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite, Texas, biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite, Texas, jump up and bite my a**!”)

But yes, I did receive a call from Chicago after my admission. Unfortunately, I wasn’t home, but I decided not to call the girl back since I didn’t really have any questions.

I certainly don’t pretend to be an expert but I hope Duke wins the tournament (although they did not win very convincingly against Georgia Tech last weekend).
