Hi
I applied to a UChicago full scholarship program for Latinx kids who want to attend their Summer Session courses/programs. I applied for policy, philosophy and writing courses. I really want to do it because the course options are right up my alley in terms of my academic interests, and my family can’t afford many/any of those fancy summer programs offered (for a price) by elite schools. How selective is it? What are my chances?
I don’t want to give too much identifying info about myself, but here goes I have a decent gpa - 3.89 sophomore+freshman year, 4.2 for junior year, but I’ve gotten a couple Bs and a rare C although I always do best in my AP classes. I have a 1300 PSAT scpre (but nearly perfect score for Reading and Writing, which may give me an edge) and my essays were good. One was really phenomenal, but the other was a little vague and not as concise as I’d have liked. My extracurriculars are good, I think; they’re creative writing, student govt and community organizing related.
Has anyone been to the program? How competitive did it seem? Were the Neubauer Adelante scholars noticeably more (academically) distinguished and/or accomplished compared to the kids who just paid to get in? Does anyone know what the acceptance rate is?
Thank you so much!
