I don't think I like the southern conservatism of Duke very much, but I'm still considering. Amherst is an intellectual community full of fun, while UChicago is perhaps the most intellectual community in the country, and more widely recognized internationally. Which would you all choose and why?

OOoOOh I'm facing the same choice.
Berkeley, Georgetown as well... but Duke and Chi.

"These are the times that try men's souls"

I would def say Duke but its just my opinion. I applied to duke as my first choice but i got rejected...wefijofijeajio.. lol. duke is not ranked 5th in the country for no reason.. so i would say Duke.. but whichever one you choose.. i hope you'll enjoy =) good luck choosing!!

I don't think rankings mean all that much... I mean, these are all great schools. Where you go should be wherever fits you best. Or wherever you like best. (I know, everyone's always saying that.)

i. hate. duke.

i have a friend who goes there and basically, there is nothing to do there but party and go to basketball games, which i guess is fine if you want that... but gosh... durham.. is a snooore

definitely Chicago!!! Esp. if your intending to do either Math, Econ, or Physics

I think if you want the most balanced undergraduate college experience, then Duke is the perfect match (most prestigious and selective among the three).

If you want a small, intimate, athletic intellectual community in a rural setting with LOTS of attention from professors, Amherst.

If you want hardcore academics, and be part of a prestigious intellectual community, Chicago (not to mention the city itself).
