I got an email saying that they rejected me…UChicago is wonderful but it’s still snowing there and I don’t think I can survive in the cold weather anyway Maybe for grad school though ;)

yay rejected

S received rejection Email.

Rejected

Is there any news about people being accepted (after May 1st)? I was wait listed but I never received the wait list rejection e-mail that some people here seem to have gotten… maybe I’ll get the rejection soon, hmm… (it would be totally cool if I got in though, it’s been my top choice for so long).

@FeralCat There’s apparently a (very small) waitlist that continues to exist to account for summer melt; I would assume you’re on that.

@FeralCat That’s an incredibly good sign. Admissions is likely making their final choices right now, and to have not received the rejection letter is likely to lead to good news (based on prev. admission years).

@FeralCat I didn’t receive a rejection email either! Even though acceptance from the wait list long after May 1 is a statistical anomaly, fingers crossed. At least they like us? lol

Also does anyone know if UChi’s wait list is need-aware? I’ve heard rumors, but no confirmed reports. I’m very curious

UChicago is need aware, more so for ppl on the wait list. But if you have not been “rejected” from it, it is a good sign and you still have a chance.

Artsloverplus is misinformed. UChicago is need blind and meets full demonstrated need for U.S. applicants. They are only need aware for international students.

My advice would simply be to stop looking at this thread. Literally every comment on this wait list thread breeds one or another form of anxiety, which is only detrimental to your emotional health. Bearing out the wait will be far easier if you get yourself off of sites like these, and grow comfortable with the idea of attending the college you have already committed to. The more you worry about the wait list online, the more other people will feed upon and add to that worry. From there, College Confidential just becomes a self-perpetuating string of nail-biting high school seniors making each other feel worse, whether they know it or not.

Go outside! Ride a bike or eat delicious food! The weather is beautiful, and there’s no excuse not to.

@YogaMom1 Thanks for the reply! I know they’re need-blind, but I’d heard that they’re need-aware for the wait list…I was worried, but I guess it’s not true bc I’m apparently on the “extended wait list” and am extremely financially needy lol

Sorry I stand corrected.

do you guys know when we are supposed to hear back about the waitlist? what are my chances :/

grace said they’re not taking anyone else off the waitlist for this year, sorry

@ironchariot were you on the “extended” waitlist?

nope, just the regular one. there was an extended one?

@ironchariot I think so? Bc admissions emailed ppl on the wait list saying they were no longer considering them. Some others in the thread and I didn’t receive those emails, so idk? Maybe we were just overlooked while they were sending out the emails? I’ve checked my UChi account and haven’t seen anything new ):

or maybe the emails went to your spam folder? i’d ask grace in the question thread
