<p>@WinnieZ I emailed regional officer for Asia who replied that Asia had a pretty high yield rate this year and that if they were going to admit any more students they would not likely choose students from Asia:( </p>

<p>My best friend sent an email to the admissions office and the regional officer said he should be expecting a reply, early next week. :/</p>
<p>I don’t know if that means he, personally, will be getting off the waitlist, or if the waitlist will be closed. I really hope they take in more students. So many of my friends have been waitlisted. Good luck to all of you.</p>

<p>For those interested, I found a geographic distribution chart that says 14% of applicants come from the Western part of the US (Cali, Washington, etc.) Whereas other areas of the US, such as New Engl and the Southwest are lacking in applicants (they’re around 8% each.)</p>
<p>Not to let anybody down, but if they were looking at geography, they would most likely choose people from the Southwest or New England, I think that’s why I got taken off, I live in TX btw.</p>

<p>Just to tell you all, my counselor just spoke to UChicago–the 2018 waitlist has been effectively closed, though some people will be kept to account for summer melt. That being said, if you want to get in and are willing to take a gap year, they are considering people still for 2019, the class I will be joining. Sorry to say this to you guys, but it looks like it’s over.</p>

<p>I’m hopeful about the class of 2019. And @asheik that map is a reflection of the class of 2017, that means nothing. It’s all based on the class this year. </p>
