I've only been to the campus before the fall quarter for my interview. I was wondering if some current students could tell me how "busy" the campus with everyone there. Does it still look as scenic or does it have more of a urban vibe? Thanks

I was really surprised by how quiet the quads are, actually. They’re not dead, but certainly not bustling. The exception is during the common ten minute periods between classes (e.g. 8:50 to 9:00, 10:20 to 10:30) and really warm weather.

Not really either an urban or scenic vibe at Chicago. The campus itself is pretty quiet and surrounded on one-side by a park area and on the other by an older, but yuppie-fied neighborhood. More urban about a mile from campus to the west, but you do not get a feel for that from the campus and an express way separates the school from the latter area.

Considering that the quads are primarily classroom spaces, the quads can feel a little sleepy. My impression (now with South Campus) is that the student energy and hustle-and-bustle is a little more spread- people play sports on the Midway, which is just south of the quads, and 57th street on a weekend morning is where people kind of hang out.

When I was at Chicago members of the Ultimate Frisbee team stole a patch of quad for afternoon frisbee and it was common in nice weather to see people eating or reading on the grass.

I take it that the OP doesn’t want the quads to be very busy/crowded/loud; if that’s the case, don’t worry about the quads transforming into Michigan Avenue when students are there. The quads, generally, are very quiet.
