UCI Admitted

congrats all accepted.

I believe it was 3.88 as of Fall of 2008

I got an email and am able to check my fin aid but didn't hear about admittance decision. Think that means I'm accepted?

Waffle- Did you take all of the prereqs for film-media? Foreign language, English Lit, Philos? I'm going to apply as Comm @ UCLA and USC, and was thinking about film-media @ UCI however I don't think I'll have time to take all of the prereqs

I don't believe UCI is as strict about their pre-reqs as UCLA/UCB.

I did finish most of the pre-reqs for UCI. I'm actually finishing up the literature prereq this semester, and just excluded the foreign language part during my 2 years.
I was just hoping that my high school foreign language would cover that section. Which I think, it did.

But anyways, yea.... don't really stress about UCI's film-media studies program as much as for UCLA. Just finish as much pre-reqs as possible; even if you applied, try to take some of UCI's requirement during your last semester, as I did. I believe this somewhat shows that you're still willing to take pre reqs for the major.

But I advise you for UCLA comm. program to get straight A's on the pre-reqs classes offered at SMC BEFORE the applications!!!

I know for a fact SMC has 6/7 pre-reqs offered for UCLA's comm program.
Great advantage. More pre-reqs with straight As-- the better.

Man, I miss the Hungry Pocket Falafel house across the SMC campus; and all the pretty Mid- Eastern girls.
shooooooooooot....

nmnnnnnnnn

this is amazing, UCI earlier acceptance than merced? does anybody have info on this? Maybe schools go by higher GPA'S why would irvine accept transfer students earlier than merced? i thought merced was very weak because I ve heard that it supposedly goes by weaker tier UC'S to the best one's. Or perhaps it might be a bad sign for me that I might get rejected although my gpa is pretty good, maybe not as good as the lucky person wo started this thread and tht might be the reason. this is interesting, like merced and santa cruz are the UC'S I dont hear a lot of discussion about

Has anyone other than the OP received acceptance status?

whats an OP?

OP = Original Poster, the person who started this thread.

Thanks. The only prereq for UCLA Comm that I'm worried about is Comm1, I messed up and got a B!! I know, lame...but I should pull off A's in the other prereqs. I really want to do Comm, but I keep telling myself that if my GPA is lower than 3.7 then I'll apply to UCLA as a Soc major. Anyhow, I hope you get in!! Keep us updated!

Is it me, or does UCI seems like a commuter school...particularly on the weekends...

Excellent question Iceboar and I just received the answer this past weekend. I applied to UCI as a math major and got an invite from the math department to attend an afternoon event at the school. At the end of the event tour guides were offering to give us tours of the school and that question was asked. The tour guide said that during the week UCI is not at all commuter and that a majority of the students live on campus. But during the weekends a lot of people go home since a lot of UCI students live within 30 min - 2 hours from home. So it may feel like a commuter school during the weekend. If you live really far from home, dont have a car, and this school doesnt offer a good program for your major, then I would consider another school.

spk: you went to the CHP orientation this past weekend huh? Yeah, thats what the tour guide said. But, come on. It was like a ghost school that weekend. I have not been there on weekdays, or week-evenings. I might check the campus out on some evenings.

Yes I was there for a few hours on saturday. Also your right Ice, it definitely was very isolated. It would still be a good idea to try and check it out during a week day though. It sounds like you want a lot more out of ur college experience then what UCI has to offer. Where else did you apply?

I visited a friend at UCI for 2 months.... Believe me... IT IS A COMMUTER SCHOOL. It's a ghost town on weekends - My friend that I stayed with, he was miserable because he was from out of state, and all his friends lived in the OC area so they went home Thursday-Sunday.

I applied to UCLA also. Though, I highly doubt that I will get accepted since I did not finish a pre-req. Calc II for business econ. I might reconsider -- and reapply next year to both school again. Business econ for LA, and Business Adminstration for UCI.

people stay at UCI during the weekdays and "go home" on the weekends? why would they even live on campus anyway if they live that close!?? irvine is a boring city in development... but there's a lot of fun stuff around it

keep in mind also that they're currently constructing a huge number of new dorms at UCI.
When they're done, a lot more students will have the opportunity to live on campus.

our hard work has finally paid off! I got accepted this morning! im so excited and i hope to see you all there. congrats!
