UCI and UCSB? WILL CHANCE BACK (post link w/ reply)

<p>ACT: 27
SAT: 1840 (will retake in Oct)
GPA: weighted- 4.33 unweighted-3.89
Extracurriculars: Soccer for 10 years (5 in club, 2 years in high school soccer before injury), volunteering at summer camp, volunteering at my church, work
Major: Econometrics and Quantitative Economics</p>

<p>UCI and UCSB are the only UCs that have my specific major, so those are my top choices, but I am still considering applying to other schools. What are my chances? </p>

<p>I really appreciate your help :) </p>

<p>Both schools are low to mid reaches. Your chances will certainly increase with your SAT retake.</p>

<p>Chance me back: <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1662008-2-8-gpa-2000-first-time-sat-urm-umass-amherst-others-ea.html#latest”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1662008-2-8-gpa-2000-first-time-sat-urm-umass-amherst-others-ea.html#latest&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

<p>You’ll definitely get into both UCI and UCSB, but again, it’ll depend on if you take any AP’s? Your SAT and ACT is about average, but it’s acceptable. </p>

<p>@ibad96 Thank you!! I am not familiar with those schools and what they offer! </p>

<p>@Worryingstudent thank you so much! I am taking APs. Next year I am taking 2 APs and 2 IBs! </p>

<p>Is your weighted GPA posted, the UC GPA (Weighted)?? If not, calculate your GPA using the following link:<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;
If you check the Freshman profile for UCSB:: Average GPA was 4.03 ACT of 29 SAT of 1923
For UCI: Average GPA was 4.05 ACT of 27 SAT of 1880
You are around the 50 percentile for both schools but by no means a sure thing. UCSB’s admissions are more holistic than UCI’s so essays will be an important part of your application. You do have a good chance and hopefully your SAT retake will be higher.
UCI/UCSB: High Match</p>

<p>@gumbymom thank you so much!! I will calculate my UC GPA now </p>
