UCI Appeal Granted/Rejected? Come Here.

Bad news number 1, my UCD appeal got rejected just now. My UCI one is still pending. UC Davis said they would post on the 30th, so told me a day early. I gave them the same info as UCI so may be a bad sign. But I did add more info to the UCI appeal in that my brother goes there, it is close, and I went to several lectures on the campus (for extra credit) and really enjoyed them.

^ Same here! Davis reject, and waiting on Irvine. Oh god..

^ in the same boat as all of y’all. but I figure that if my appeal didn’t fly at one school it won’t at the others either.

Proably, but I don’t know. Some people initially said they get into UCD and are rejected by UCI. While some got into UCI and get rejected by UCD. Each school must be weighing different criteria (or some admission people are easlier than others). In any case it’s unsettling since we have no idea about UCI. Anyway I just want an answer so I can either set my mind on UCR or not.

Are you guys waiting on UCSB as well?

awww i seriously hope that irvine can notify us by the end of tomorrow.
as for my housing contract for ucr, i guess i really do not care about losing the $350 as long as i’m not stuck at ucr for the next 4 years of my life.
uc irvine is seriously my dream school TT i don’t know if i can stand the wait any longer TT

Julia-- did you find out via e-mail first?

no she didnt she logged on to ur account first,

i received an email as well but i happened to just check my page first.

for those of you still waiting: if uci or ucd grants ur appeal, all you have to do is tell the admissions office of wherever you SIR’ed and they’ll just say ‘oh good for u and congratulations’… it really isnt a big deal (i dont know about the money involved though but im sure you could call admissions and ask if they’d give you a refund)

when it comes to appeals/waitlists, its not uncommon to get in after you are required to send in the SIR for another college. the deposit is typically none-refundable, but thats only about $70-150 depending on the college. in certain cases, i could imagine if be refundable.

sign the SIR to to whatever colleges you already go into. as many appeal rates are historically very low, it wouldn’t be smart to bank on it anyway.

sigh. i was hoping uci would let me know today but w.e

i ended up sending my SIR to UCR

^I did mine like two days ago, i knew UCI would take forever.

nope, the SIR deposit is NON-refundable.
ucr bolded it in red on their page.
but i don’t care about the $100 anymore, i just want to get into uci!

did anyone else receive a phone call from the Irvine Admissions Office today? I was at school, but my mother answered and she said that they told her that AT THE LATEST, the appeal decisions would be out by friday, 5/2. Did they call everyone??

I didn’t receive a phone call, did your Mom call and ask them to let her know. Anyway I am sending my UCR to Riverside tonight in order to avoid the rush tomorrow. I am afraid that so many people will be on that I will be locked out. They had to pick 1 day too late.

i never recieved a phone call ether

i never received a phone call either.
but i hope they notify me tonight
because they said if they notify you after may 1st then you don’t get guaranteed housing -_-
omg pleaseeee irvine, please accept me!!

the no housing guarantee does not sound right. I thought you were guaranteed housing as long as you applied for it by the June 1st cutoff date. My brother did not apply for housing until that date and still got in 2 years ago.

The no housing guarantee (if you are admitted after the 1st) is on the UCI website:

“On-campus housing for applicants admitted after May 1 (freshmen) or June 1 (transfers) is not guaranteed, and on-campus housing is not guaranteed for applicants whose appeals to cancellation may be granted.”
