UCI appeal notification

I sent in my appeal for UCI on the 13th and was just wondering how/when I will be contacted regarding my status. Of course I'm not expecting it to be soon but I'd like to know the general process. Have any of you sent in your appeals and heard from them yet?

If any of you are in the same boat as I am, best of luck to you.

Same boat as you. Called in and they said best bet is mid July when we will hear, that means you have to register at another school; I registered at UC Merced, paid the deposits, and if I get approved at irvine, I have to lose the money, oh well. It’s worth $400

i called in about a week ago and the lady said may 15 :/

Oh, she did? Did she say they were actually granting appeals?

They’re starting to accept appeals. I just got in!!! ■■■■ I swear, I didn’t think I’d get in!

Congratulations! I’m still waiting for a reply…but I think I’m actually content with UCR. I found out that it’s not a bad school although I would be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to my appeal status. May I ask what did you write about?

Haha, thanks!

I sent in my appeal on April 14th. Maybe they’re still reviewing? I know a lot of appeals haven’t heard back yet, so you’re not alone. Don’t worry! Hopefully you get in! I wish you the best of luck!

I wrote about my C in AP Calculus AB Junior year. I explained how a lot of things happened that one year that made my grades slip that much. I went from a straight A student to getting that C. I talked about the death of my favorite/closest uncle, how it impacted me. I talked about my parents’ fights because my mom wanted my uncle to stay with us but my dad didn’t want that. I talked about how in school, my old close friends betrayed me and isolated me. I felt very alone both at home and at school. That’s basically it. My grades for senior year probably helped me, and my letter of recommendation.

Congrats! So how did you find out? Just email?

Ty, ty! Super excited.
& No, I checked the portal. It appeared first on there; it was about 9 PM. I then got an email around 3:00AM.
You could wait for the email, or you could just check the portal; maybe you’ll get lucky & there’ll be a change!

Great!!! Have a lot of people gotten in? What did the letter say?

If you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats (how many APs, SAT, UC GPA)?
TIA

@ Basketballer44
Hey, a couple of people from my school got their appeal granted. The letter just said that my appeal was granted & that I’ve been admitted to UCI. :)

@CollegeUser12
My SAT was 1920.
Overall, from sophomore year to senior year, I’ve taken AP European History, AP English Language and Composition, AP Calculus AB, AP Biology, AP US History, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, and AP Government and Politics.
My GPA when I submitted my application was 4.01.
GPA when I appealed: 4.21

Awesome! So if we haven’t heard yet were ok though, yeah?

@xx0xkrissi hey! i was wondering when you sent in your appeal? :o do you know if theyre going by how early you sent yours in?

hey, i’ve been following all of the uci appeal blogs for awhile, and I actually heard back yesterday as well from uci about my appeal being granted. good luck to you all!

Lindseey: what did you say in your appeal if you mind my asking? Grades, scores, etc?

@Basketballer44 I just wrote about my grandmother’s declining health during my junior year which consisted of my time away from school being spent at the hospital, and other family issues. I stated how it restricted me from properly preparing for the sats and lack of ecs during the time, and how uci is perfect because of my ability to care for my grandpa. I honestly did not expect it at all considering my stats…

SAT: 1700
GPA: 3.9 (3.8 UC)
& various ECs, but nothing extraordinary

I also didn’t send anything to support my case either (i.e letters of rec, evidence) so I truly am surprised that they accepted my appeal, but I’m guessing that they have a lot of extra room due to the people that choose better schools and wait lists. I’m pretty much proof that anything could happen, so good luck!!

Hi guys, I also appealed to uci and so far I haven’t heard anything… I’ve been keeping up with the blogs and itseem like peoples appeals are about personal problems amd things to explain low grades… Mine was about what I would do at irvine. I wrot about wanting to be apart of the vsa club and computer science research they have. And I included a printout of the website I manage for my dads work and I also included a letter of rec.

My uc gpa is 3.95 and sat 1940
I have 8 AP in total and Im in varsity tennis and many clubs. I also worked during my junior year and I did a fair amount of community service.

Do you think I have a chance? I’m not sure if my appeal works under “new and compelling” information but uci is my dream school. I really hope I get in.

Also, congrats to everyone who did get in!

Does anyone know when they will tell us by?
