UCI called me

It was Carmen from the admissions department. Is this a good or bad sign? She asked me to fax my transcript and have it include my first semester senior grades.

I'm scaredddd, UCI is my FIRST choice!

what are your stats

3.5 gpa sucks I KNOW
6 APs
1800ish on SAT, 26 on ACT
Student Body president and a bunch of good stuff

i'm scarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrred now, i really want to get in!

your probably borderline so they want to see your transcript to help them with their decision. better hope ur senior grades were good nuff.

my grades this semester were

AP Lit A
AP Gov B
AP Environmental Sci B
Leadership B
Computer Lit A

agh i hope i at least get into davis if i dont get into irvine!!

don't worry yellowdaisy07, i know a person who got in with a 1700-ish, their gpa was higher (around 3.7)

yellowdaisy is that 3.5GPA weighted?

^Same question as the person above me.

yes =(

its because i didnt take my math final on the last day of junior year because my aunt (who i was sharing a room with) went into labor in the middle of the night, and i was the only one at home who could drive her. I wrote about that in one of my essays.

Yellowdaisy you better hope you get into UCI since UCD is harder to get into than UCI in virtually every category ;)

Fall 2007 Application Stats now Online
Found at <a href="http://www.ucop.edu/news/studstaff.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.ucop.edu/news/studstaff.html</a></p>

yea i just wanted to know, because i think by the end of my junior year, ill have similar stats to you. I hope I can get into UCI too oncei apply.

Don't listen to VoiceofReason. For the past several years, UCI's acceptance rate has been lower than UCD. If you don't get into UCI, you might have a chance at UCD (if you applied there and want to go there). This past year, UCD had a higher % of applicants, but this was an anomaly. If you look over the past 10 years or so, UCI has had one of the highest % increases in applications in the UC system - with a big increase in interest from norcal'ers.

Good luck to you.

UCD Admit Rate – Overall: 68.0%

<a href="http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucd.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles/camp_profiles_ucd.html</a></p>

UCI Admit Rate — Overall: 59.1%

This is the current brand new 2007 information
total # applications up
UCD + 7.6%
UCI + 4.0 %
overall SAT scores of applicants
UCD 1746
UCI 1719
This is hardly an anomaly.
Overall:
1. CAL
2. UCSD
3. UCLA
4. UCD
5. UCSB
6. UCI
7. UCSC

now im more scareddd.

i hope i have at least a chance at sb or davis aghhhhhh i dont want to go to long beachhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh =(

let me digress. VoiceofReason = major tool. I said it was an anomaly because every year consistently (except for 2007), UCI has seen higher % increases in applications than UCD. UCI also has had a lower admit rate. VoiceofReason also listed the UC campuses with UCI being second to last. And this is what list?

VoiceofReason tried to dis-prove my point when in fact he failed. Now please leave. Thanks.

Yellowdaisy07 it seems you have a legitimate excuse. Hang in there.

I don't need to resort to ad hominem attacks to make my point. The numbers speak for themselves. Look at the quality of the applicants based on their statistics.

"The numbers speak for themselves."

Right.

Since UCI's admission rate of 59.1% is lower than UCD's admission rate of 68%, what do you have to say for your statement below?

"Yellowdaisy you better hope you get into UCI since UCD is harder to get into than UCI in virtually every category"

And the numbers don't speak for themselves. Based on the data that you posted, it seems that UCSD is on par with (if not better than) UCLA. Is that true? No, far from it. So, stop using weak trends in numbers (let alone applicant data) to reach your fanatic and definitive conclusions.

uugghh...the numbers are so close anyway.

voiceofreason, i just want to kick you.

There has got to be a way to ban ToolofReason. His lack of quality reasoning, evident in his posts, is not good for potential applicants looking for good information.

I think UCD is a great school, but ToolofReason is definitely the wrong person to serve as their mascot.

TheRighteous - good catches!
