So I’m in a bit of a predicament at the moment. I will be applying as a Junior Transfer this upcoming Fall to UCI and wanted to apply as a Biological Science major. I noticed UCI compared to the other UC schools have more required pre-reqs. By the end of Spring 2018 I’ll have complete a year of Gen Bio w/ lab, a year of Calculus, a year of Gen Chem w/ Lab, a year of Physics based Calculus, IGETC, and only a semester of O Chem w/ lab. UCI requires you have a whole year of O-Chem in order to apply as a transfer for Bio majors… is it still possible to get in to UCI with only a semester of O-Chem completed? I could take O-Chem II during the summer 2018 but I saw somewhere (I think) that all of the required pre-reqs have to be finished by Spring 2018. If that’s not possible, I was thinking of instead applying to either the School of Pharmaceutical Science or Physical Science (as a Chemistry major) since I would have all the pre-reqs completed for those majors, and then if I got in to change my major to Biology. I tried looking online to see if that was possible since I would be coming in as a Junior (it might be too late, or since they’re different schools it might not be possible to switch schools that late in college), but couldn’t find a concrete answer.
If the OChem series is a requirement then it is required to be completed by end of Spring Quarter/Semester. You can apply without fulfilling the requirement but most likely you will be rejected.
Required:
Meet all basic UC admission requirements with a minimum grade of C or better
Complete 60 semester or 90 quarter UC transferable units by the end of the spring term prior to the fall quarter of enrollment
Have a cumulative UC transferable GPA of 3.0 (3.4 for TAG)
Complete one year of general chemistry with laboratory with a C or better in each course
Complete one year of organic chemistry with laboratory with a C or better in each course
Complete one year of biology courses with laboratory equivalent to UCI’s BIO SCI 93 and 94 with a grade of C or better in each course
I have already posted this one one of the other threads you started asking the same questions. If you do not believe the post or the link, then call admissions directly to get the final word.
You cannot change into a Biology major after you transfer at UCI.

Effective Fall, 2013:
No change of major will be approved for entering transfer students. Transfer students who meet the UCI admission requirements for biological sciences before entering UCI must also meet the following requirements: completion at UCI of at least 4 of the required science courses for the major, two of which must be required biological sciences courses, with an average GPA of 2.00 or better. Transfer students who did not meet the UCI admission requirements for biological sciences before entering UCI will not have the option to declare the major at any time in the future.
