Being in CHP requires the student to take a Humanities, Social Sciences, and Sciences Core.

For current CHP students, how difficult are these honors classes compared to regular ones? What about class sizes?

If GPA is more important to me, is it better to just take regular GE classes to get the easy A rather than take CHP honors classes?

The only reason I would join CHP is their priority enrollment and their research thesis (couldn't I just do it on my own without being in CHP?)

Taking GPA into account, is CHP worth it if I want to get the highest GPA I possibly can?

The honors classes are not harder than their regular counterparts (eg. Honors Humanities vs normal). They curve fairly generously. For the social science series, it will be more challenging than a typical easy GE, but overall it should not be too bad, esp as a CHP student. The classes are definitely more interesting! As long as you are willing to do the work, you should get the grade you want, so you definitely don’t have to worry about the CHP ruining your gpa unless you are time constrained. Plus, the priority enrollment will allow you to select the best teachers, best times, and easiest GE’s which will definitely help out your GPA. As for the research thesis, it is something you could do on your own outside of CHP; it just becomes a requirement if you are in the program.

In regards to honors social sciences: [Prospective High School Students](http://www.honors.uci.edu/prospectivehs.php)

In Social Sciences H1E, H1F, H1G, will I be learning all of the topics mentioned (anthropology, cognitive sciences, economics, linguistics, political science, psychology, social ecology, and sociology) in those 3 courses?

I am trying to squeeze in a year of sociology/psychology for new med school requirements and am wondering if I can learn JUST sociology/psych in the honors classes?

Is the honors science core 3 classes or just 1 class that I pick? Are the science core classes equivalent to introductory courses or are they upper-division level?

The social science honors courses will cover aspects of all those topics, but won’t provide you with all the material necessary for the new MCAT. You should still take the intro classes. I’m not sure about the science core - you can waive out of it if you are a science major.
