UCI CHP vs UCSD for Mathematics

Hi everyone!

I’m trying to decide between UCI and UCSD and I was wondering if I could get some opinions or advice. I was originally set on going to UCSD, but after receiving and seeing the benefits of UCI Campuswide Honors Program, I’m rethinking my decision and I’ve been flip flopping between the 2 schools since. CHP offers me priority registration, more research opportunities, and honors classes. I visited both campuses on UCI Honors Experience Day and Triton Day, but nothing really stood out to me on either that would have made my decision definite. Money isn’t really an issue, but I’ll still consider it. My family would rather I go to UCI because I would commute instead of dorm, but they are fine with allowing me to go to UCSD and dorming.

I was admitted as Mathematics major at UCI and Mathematics- Applied Science at UCSD (Thurgood Marshall). I’m planning on going to medical school as well, so would I have a higher chance at a higher GPA at UCI, which is generally known for being less competitive than UCSD? I feel like the advantages of the CHP could really be beneficial and that I’m standing out from the crowd, but UCSD is generally a better school and allow me more freedom from my family.

I’ve been stressing myself out trying to make this decision and SIR date is coming up quickly… Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!
