Does anyone know when transfer student decisions start and end for fall 2012 applicants?

[] ACT: did not take
[] SAT II: 720 chemistry, 690 mathII, 610 US History (I planned not to take them since the representative I met from UCLA told me not to take them unless I wanted engineering, so I did not study until the last minute)

[li] Volunteer/Community service:hospital volunteering over 200 hrs, office volunteering 50 hrs, library volunteering over 50 hrs, academic decathlon, some other things
[/li]

[li] Personal Statement:[/ul] I spent 2 months on it. I started in in the beginning of Sept and finished it in Nov. I guess it helped me a lot to. The first prompth is about my stuggles on language (I am an immigrant) from the first day of school. The second one is about how I am a big sister and those duties I have to do for my parents due to language barrier and I ended it with how much I love my brother and sister. I like the ending a lot though. One of my best essays (another best one was the one on The Great Gatsby I wrote in my American Dream class…)
[/li]

Other[ul]

[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.):[/ul] like I said in my PS

Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths:my stable GPA throughout high school, volunteering
[] Weaknesses: poor SAT scores, high school courses
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:[/ul] I definitely was thinking that I would be rejected, so I was a little scared to log on to view the decision. I thought I would be a supplemental info request but I did not. I got an email yesterday but I just checked my email today.
[/li]

General Comments: This is like a drem/ my 1st acceptance btw/ now I have some hope for other UCs/ my application was more complicated so don’t judge me by what you see here…this is a summary/ I really believe my PS made me get in, it was not that great to the point that people would cry when they read but it was very touching I belive./

For high school juniors, everybody has a hook in his life, you just have to really find one and be serious about it. Once you start writing about something personal, or even your secrets that you never tell anyone, it will flow automatically. The best is to start a PS early, not the week before you submit(lots of my friends are like this, procrastinators).

@chainiwatmj

wow!! congrats. what other schools are you considering??
you deserve it! you shouldn’t let anyone tell you otherwise

Job/Work Experience:
Volunteer/Community service: Milal Wheat: Care Center for children with Autism (200+ hours). good stuff
Personal Statement: Took me roughly around 3 months to complete the 2 UC essays. I received advice and tips from my private counselor, but all of the work came from my own head and thinking. Let’s see…for the first essay, I wrote about my personal experience living with an autistic child for 3 days, where I had to take care of him as a parent. Life changing experience is all I’m going to say on this post. For the other essay, I wrote about my interest in Computer Science and how my father positively pushed me into that field of learning. He was my inspiration to pursue Computer Science and one day apply my knowledge in the real world as a Software Engineer.

General Comments: Good Luck guys!!!

Anyone (or know of anyone) majoring in Business Economics that got in?

@newyorkmydrems
I applied to UCB, UCLA, UCI, UCSC, UCD, and UCSD. What about you?

I only heard from one so I am not sure but I will probably have to go to UCLA if I get accepted because it’s closer to my house and because of other reason (but I don’t like the majors)

but UCI is also one of my top choices because of major, and environment.

At this point I kinda don’t care whether I get accepted to Davis, SC, and SD
SC and Davis are too far
SD is still ok but it’s too far way down there but I like the 6 colleges system it’s kinda cool. but I like UCI better, like a quiet city
UCB is an exception even if it’s far because of you know, pretty famous and I like its business school there, like the major

@Pencil. i applied business/econ to UCI and got accepted on february 28th

Any transfers get decisions yet?

@Pencil, I’m in the same boat as you…business econ and no decision so far haha im kinda nervous

Did you guys get it the morning of 3/8 or the night? and yup looks like im not getting anything this week… im not getting in i think…

Everyone who has been accepted so far have really good stats, much higher than UCI’s average, so they are definitely not done with admissions yet. Unless it got ridiculously more competitive this year, but I doubt it.

Pick one:
Decision: Accepted w/ Regent’s Scholarship and CHP

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 2010

[] Intended Major: Drama
[] State (if domestic applicant): California
[] Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: Public

[] Income Bracket: Too high for need-based aid, evidently. Upwards of 100k.
[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.):[/ul] Nothing really.
[/li]

General Comments: This is my “if-all-else-fails” safety school because I knew I would get in and I live like 15 minutes away from it and Orange County is boring. This was my first acceptance and my only so far; I’ve had 4 rejections, and 7 schools left to hear from. We’ll see. At least UCI has pretty good theatre and the opportunity to qualify for a musical theatre BFA. I’ve started looking more into UCI out of the fear no one else will want me., so here I am.
