[/ul]General Comments: I’m really happy to finally get some news after waiting all these months. I’ve attended classes at UCI before and even ditched high school to go there. I really like the school and I also heard that CHP is really hard. I’m going to wait for my other schools to come out and make a good choice.

My advice to all high school students: Work doesn’t suck as much as failing. Work hard and you will be definitely rewarded. When you make mistakes (like procrastinate on an assignment), learn from them and try to improve yourself as a person. Stay focused and endure through all the tough times. Good luck!

I got the letter as well and it says “Admission to the Campuswide Honors Program is contingent upon your admission to the university.” So technically we didn’t get officially accepted yet i think.

I also got my letter in the mail yesterday. I’m pretty sure those who got the letter are probably accepted seeing that it wouldn’t make sense to offer this program to someone who they are going to reject. Funny how it says log into the my UCI NetID but they haven’t even updated anything!

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: They chose to be more holistic and maybe overlooked my horrible junior year grades haha[/li][/ul]General Comments: For those who are wondering, you get the CHP letter in the mail. It doesn’t say you’re admitted, but it does on the application portal. That aside, I’m surprised that I’ve been selected for CHP. My GPA seems to be lower than everyone else’s, haha. But this is my first acceptance so far and it’s really exciting!

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths:
ACT score
Maybe weighted GPA?
Leadership position as captain of the tennis team
(I don’t know really)
[] Weaknesses:
Unweighted GPA
only 5 AP classes total including my senior year
not many impressive ECs
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I contribute a large part of getting accepted to my ACT score. I do think it’s a holistic review though. I never had any real low points on my application, some mediocre and a couple high points. I also think my leadership position as captain of the tennis team helped my application. While I didn’t have a lot of ECs, I think tennis stood out as something I was passionate about since I mentioned it in one of my essays.[/li][/ul]General Comments: You don’t have to be perfect to get accepted. You just need to have one or two things that make you stand out. If you have a couple lows, you still have a chance, I think if you have highs they tend to look at those more than your lows. For those who still have time to build up your application, work hard and it will pay off when you get accepted to great colleges where you’ll be spending ~4 years of your life. For AP course load do what you can handle, if that’s 6 APs in one year, go for it, but be careful you don’t bite off more than you can chew. Your ECs don’t have to be significant, colleges just want to make sure you’re not just sitting lazily on your butt all day everyday instead of doing something productive and worthwhile. If you have a passion in a certain activity, go after it even if it interferes with a variety of other activities that you don’t have nearly as much interest in. Having passion in one activity is much better than having no passion, yet participating in 10 different activities. I sacrificed many ECs because tennis was my passion and took up a lot of my time, and so far I am so glad I made that decision. Good Luck!!

[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): school doesn’t rank in any way
[] ELC?: No, but I think that’s because I’m at a new school this year. The place on the application website that is supposed to give ELC info doesn’t say anything at all, whereas kids who didn’t qualify got a message telling them that they weren’t in the top 9%.
