@collegehopeful2021chs I think this is a good sign imho. Where do you see this? Under “My aid application status”?
@anitapitamom yes I believe so. My portal also says that the deadline to apply for merit awards is march 24th, does anyone else see the same thing?
@collegehopeful2021chs Where would you see that message? But as it currently stands, I don’t see anything.
Received an e-mail about UCI financial aid in November before portal log in info was sent out. Got accepted for CHP and my screen might look different than yours but I don’t see where the merit award section is.
@yuccatree it’s on the financial aid and scholarships page under “my aid application status” http://www.ofas.uci.edu/content/ click log on to my aid on the left bar
@lkg4answers it looks like the financial aid page is completely separate from the portal
@collegehopeful2021chs log onto your portal and see if there is a link to financial aid after you log on. There is on mine.
@ikg4answers oh yeah there is I just didn’t see it. and i think the merit scholarships I mentioned earlier are only for current students
@collegehopeful2021chs Yeah then I don’t see it on the financial aid portal. Thanks for the link btw! They do have all required documents (and based off of the financial aid portal, have had them since 10/02/2016) but no award, nothing about merit scholarships. I think it might mean something, then, unless they haven’t managed to calculate my award yet and are still processing some financial aid applications…
@yuccatree or maybe mine was just easier to calculate because it was zero. But I didn’t submit the FAFSA until late January
They do have a “middle class scholarship” for those with family incomes under 150 K and as far as I’ve heard, one doesn’t need to do anything separate to apply for that (other than for sending the FAFSA). (Though I’m a newcomer to all this…) Also, I had though CHP probably would come with some merit? - That is, for those of you above who received CHP already.
(Not that we know much ourselves … my S17 hasn’t heard anything yet, similarly to most of you/us here).
@collegehopeful2021chs That’s a good point! My family is definitely would have more financial aid than $0. Although it is worrying that my FAFSA has been submitted to them before yours, maybe they don’t start reviewing any financial aid applications until a certain date? (If anyone knows more about how colleges calculate financial aid, do any colleges do that? Or do they process them and review them as they come out?)
@collegehopeful2021chs okay I looked and my D has the same message: “ineligible for need-based financial aid.” Is that what yours says?
@anitapitamom yes
@anitapitamom where did you see that message? what do you click on after logging into the financial aid portal after going through the admissions portal?
@Avancer log onto portal, go to the bottom under What’s Next and click “My Aid.” log in again, and click “My Aid Application Status” and read the message. I missed it the first time because I didn’t read the message - I was just looking for a number.
@Avancer also I don’t think it means anything on admission. Probably financial aid office and admissions operate independently would be my guess.
Does anyone know the usual order that decisions are sent out by major/when nursing tends to come out
Does anyone know if UCI decisions come out before UCLA? I read on CC that UCLA comes out March 17 at 5pm?
@lastofthree where did you read that UCLA comes out March 17 at 5pm? Is that an assumption based on last year or has that been confirmed with UCLA Admissions? UCI Admissions said they are rolling throughout this month and UCLA Admissions is still saying late March.
