Hi all, rising senior here and i’m going to be majoring in CS. I wanted to ask those in the major a few questions.
- How are the classes in terms of difficulty?
- Are internships easy to land nearby?
- What were your stats when you get accepted into the impacted major?
my stats are:
UW GPA = 4.0
W = 4.5 (max school offers)
ACT: 31 (hoping to increase it in september)
Ecs: plenty including an IT internship at a hospital
From what I’ve heard the classes are hard and are meant to be. I have classmates in the program and classmates that transferred out of the program lol. I can’t give you specifics but the courses are structured in a way that not everybody is going to pass. It’s used to weed people out of the program. If you are up for the challenge go for it, school is about challenging yourself and discovering what you can do. You fail in college so you don’t make the same mistakes when you are in the real world.
You are asking a bunch of strangers how hard a major is and that’s your first mistake. Either trust in your abilities to rise up and do the work no matter what’s put in front of you or your problems are a lot bigger than how a 10 week class is, it’s a subjective question.
Plus remember UCI is a quarter system…it surprises a lot of people how fast the quarters go by and the work that comes a long with it regardless of your major.
Thanks for the reply but I wasn’t focusing on difficulty atall. I was more interested in what opportunities internship-wise there are and what people’s stats were when they got into the program.
Also I’m not asking a bunch of strangers im asking a bunch of strangers IN the computer science program who will know how to answer these questions.
