My S admitted to UCI Computer Science, UCSD Math-Computer Science and Pitzer College where he can do CS in Pomona or Mudd. We have heard Revelle GE requirements are hard at UCSD. Pitzer offers a lot of enrollment flexibility inside the Claremont System. UCI has a separate School of Computer Science. My son is looking for a college experience where he can balance his academic interests with his interest in music. Any thoughts?
Hard to pass up the music opportunities provided by the consortium. My son is trying to decide between Computer Science at UCSD Warren or UCI. Our kids are fortunate to have great choices!
@BiomedFather If he wants to balance music with CS Pitzer is a great choice. How affordable is it? If it’s a comparable price/you can pay it’s a great option. On the other hand UCSD Engineering is now ranked higher than Ucla at number 12 in the country.
@CopperlineX2 Congrats to your son. Unless your son wants to commute for uci, UCSD Engineering is hard to pass up. Warren is also designed for engineers in their GEs too. La Jolla is also an awesome location. I toured UCSD 5 times during the app process and was pretty sure I was gonna attend.
What is your kid’s stats?
@10s4life we want him to choose the campus that feels right for him, but it’s hard not to fear committing to UCSD when they are being sketchy about financial aid. UCSB aid looked great. UCI aid doesn’t matter since they’re local and he could always commute. He probably won’t decide until after Triton Day & a round of golf at Torrey Pines with his UCSD buddy.
@BiomedFather Revelle is hard, but the GEs won’t make it impossible to graduate by any means. I wouldn’t make that a significant factor in your decision.
