UCI - Criminology, Law & Society (current students)

Hello!

After 3 years of community college I believe I have found the optimal major that fulfills my personal interest, as well as my academic needs for law school. I currently have a 3.1 GPA which, by the time I have fulfilled the classes listed on assist (I am not referring to them as pre-reqs as they were not categorized as such on assist.org), I will probably have a 3.3 GPA.

First and foremost...is 3.3 GPA sufficient? Competitive? I will be making use of TAG, however I would still like to know how my potential peers were performing before transfer/during u.g.

From my understanding, CLS is a well-established department of UCI. With that in consideration, I would like to know if there is anything I could do that would be of any significant contribution towards developing a broader understanding of the subject. There is always the clubs, internships, social networking, but I thought I ask anyways (I've read some bright ideas on this forum!). I will be adhering to the TAG requirements, so I'm not worried about admissions - I'm more concerned with being as mentally prepared as possible to make the most of CLS.

TAG requires just a 3.0 GPA to transfer. Just don’t fall below that and you’re good to go, assuming you finished at least 60 units, including the major pre-reqs (use assist.org if you don’t know what I’m talking about).

Good stuff!

have you taken a transferrable math?

Seems that’s one of the best-established departments in UCI, being ranked 5th on usnews.com for graduate programs in criminology. Good luck!

seafoodsifu, thank you for the information…did you read my entire post?

UCkittychen - yes I have, I took Pre-Calc, and will take Elementary Statistics this Fall.

jackiech - That’s good to know, I’m impressed. Though I will be considered an undergraduate, I feel their is much credibility asserted to any UCI program. I just wish there was more diversity in the students, in fact I think it’s unethical and unfair to be as non-diverse as UCI is…this is one reason I might choose another school.
