UCI Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@vousmeuerz I personally tried to add an alternate major but I wasn’t able to. I am glad to hear that! I just received mine two hours ago. I was surprised. I had the impression they start sending emails on the last week of December. At least from what I have read in other threads. Either way, I am pretty excited for the email.

Hey guys, been following these threads for about 3 years now so excited that it’s finally my time to post.
Major: Psych and social behavior
GPA: 4.0
Major GPA: 4.0
Major prep: almost all
IGETC: done by spring
Tap: yes
Units: 59 completed and will have 80 when transferring.
AA-T in Psych will be completed.
Applying to: UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCSB (tag), UCI, UCD, USC.
EC: part of two clubs and an honors society on campus. Committee member as a part of associated students. Lots of community service hours.
Job: Worked 20 hours a week at school.
Essays: pretty good I think read by multiple people.
Also a first generation college student.

MAJOR: Software Engineering
MAJOR PRE-REQUISITES: Done
IGETC: No (partially complete)
TAG: Yes
UC GPA: 3.96
ALSO APPLYING TO: UCB, UCSB, UCSC, UCD
EC: Backend developer, side projects

So I just called admissions, they said to have a cumulative 3.4 by the end of spring quarter.

May I ask why you won’t be able to meet the TAG requirements?

Is it because of the missing calculus class? Do you not plan on taking that one at all?

I ask this because TAG is 100% and I feel like missing out on that is really risky

I go to a quarter system CC, and UCI only asks for two quarters worth of Calc classes that articulate to Math3A and Math3B.

Yeah, it’s the missing Calculus class. I’m planning on taking it during summer, but it was supposed to be done by the end of spring. I’ll have calculus 1 done, but they expect calculus 2 as well. My CC uses the semester system.

This thread has been going on for a while

But I would like to ask you some questions!

What was your GPA by the end of the Spring quarter? If possible, could you post your TAG contract? Even though I’m in a different major, I want to see what they expect of me IF i get in haha

OMG I completely didn’t see that thread qq now i can bookmark it :3

My GPA was a 3.5 by the end of Spring semester.

Here’s what my TAG contract looked like. I did finish all my major reqs (including calc) by Spring. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions or want to ask about my experience

Meet all conditions specified in the UC Irvine Transfer Student Provisional Admission Contract

Hi everyone! It’s that time of year again! I’m currently in my last year at UCI (transferred last year) and I wish you all the best! Feel free to ask me any questions and i’ll be glad to answer!

Ahh I see. So you pretty much had to just meet the GPA requirement to get admitted. It’s weird how they still say “Complete all coursework required for admission…” when you finished them all! Thank you

Oh, and do you recall the date you got admitted? It seems like some people in last year’s thread began getting admitted around march 20th?

Am I too late? qq

Hi hi! I’m a current transfer student at UCI (omg graduation is so close qq) and I’m starting this thread for the Fall 2019 cohort. Transfer Academic Updates were due a couple of days ago so I hope y’all did that! I’ll answer any questions I can, but mainly this is for you guys to have an open line of communication. Please include your stats when you post updates about your acceptance status, and please keep off topic discussion elsewhere. Best wishes and good luck!

Basics about me:
Transferred from Santiago Canyon College, TAGged Business Economics, and I love stickers and buttons!

Here is what providing stats usually includes

Your major
Your transferable GPA (UC Transferable courses are all that counts)
Your major GPA
Your ECs (Extra Curriculars) (volunteer work + time, clubs, experience etc)
Schools applied for and the status of accepted, waitlisted, rejected, pending
Personal Statements (Were they reviewed by a counselor, tutor, or UCI transfer rep?) if so, did they come out ok?

UC GPA: 4.0 (Note: around 12 Ws)
Major: Computer Science
California Community College: Yes
TAG: No (submitted a TAG but won’t meet the requirements)
ECs: relevant work experience, Stanford EPGY (high school), Spanish National Honor Society, relevant online classes through Coursera and Udacity
IGETC: Yes
Major Requirements: No (missing one calculus class)

“Earn a minimum GPA of 3.4 in all UC transferable coursework by the end of the summer 2018 term for fall 2019 admission and will maintain a 3.4 GPA in all UC transferable coursework for all subsequent terms”

After reporting my fall quarter grades, I have a 3.96

Does this mean that I need to have a cumulative 3.4 by the end of spring

OR

Get at least a 3.4 in winter AND spring?

pretty much - and that’s around the same time I got notified for admission through tag!

Hey everyone, admission decisions are super close! Stressing out honestly. How is everyone feeling individually? Anyways here are my stats…

MAJOR: General Psychology
MAJOR PRE-REQUISITES: None required by UC Irvine nor UC Riverside
IGETC: Certified Spring 2019

EC: Chapter delegate for Psi Beta Psychology Honors Society, IN-N-Out Associate (20hrs per week), Professional Polynesian dancer (14+ yrs.), volunteer for on campus research studies, and conducted a research study on campus.
DEGREES from CCC: AA-T Psychology, AA Psychology, AA Social and Behavioral Sciences, & AA Liberal Arts Studies: Teacher Education.

What’s the General Psychology major? Is that the Psychology B.A.?

Major: Art

AA: Yes, but not for Transfer
TAG: No
EC: Work at a Senior Community (40 hrs/week)

@ZB9091 Yes, it’s the Psychology B.A.! Just named it general psychology since it’s what my CCC calls it

Has anyone received an e-mail from Financial Aid? I received one about 2-3 hours ago. It just said my Financial Aid Application status was updated. Shows my FAFSA was submitted on time.

I did not get an email but I checked my status on the portal, says the same thing. @StudentAgain
