Hello,

I applied for UCI's Film & Media Studies major, and I was just wondering if anyone who's in the program can tell me anything at all about it.

Thank you!

I’m graduating this year from the UC irvine Film and Media Studies Program and I loved it! The only downside is that there isn’t any hands-on film making except for a couple courses. ( Well at least as not as much as I expected) The faculty is great, and I’m truly going to miss it. They have film competitions throughout the year and it gives you a chance to meet your fellow classmates who also share the same passion. But most importantly you learn about the critical ways in making a film and how technology plays a huge role in our daily lives. The film program at UCI is growing rapidly. if you enjoy how film is made and the ways in which artists before our time made film using celluloid unlike digital today, it will definitely blow you away. But all in all, this programs is NOT a hands on program. This program will teach you how to critique film and identify with film making on a more intellectual level. I hope you get in, and carry on the Anteater tradition! If you have any more questions let me know! :)

Im an entering freshman in the Film and Media Studies major as well, thanks for all the info. Sounds great!
