<p>^^no, you’re exempt from Writing 39A (or its various forms in Hum Core, etc.). You’ll still need to take the two quarters of lower-division writing (which may be incorporated into the Hum Core or FIP sequences*), plus one quarter upper division (there’s usually a writing course specific to your major, even for science and engineering… look for a 100-series course in your major with a “W” at the end).</p>
<p>*The FIP sequences typically cover 39C… you still need to take 39B.</p>

<p>Regarding the seminar: it’s a useless class because it’s basically how to transition to college. They just tell you the resources you can use and “how to study”. It really is a pointless class because these are mostly common sense things. There is pointless homework that you have to do and yes you can sleep through the lecture but there is a separate mandatory discussion that you must attend. Seriously, if you already signed up for it, try switching out and take either a GE or some other useful class towards your major because it will be more worth rather than spending your money on a class that tells you how to manage your time or how to study.</p>
