I'm an upcoming freshman from way way WAY out of state, Georgia. A lot of people have been encouraging me to rush for a sorority because it'll help me adjust and make friends quickly, so I have been researching different sororities.

I've found two that I really want to join, if I end up rushing, which are alpha Kappa Delta Phi and Kappa Zeta Phi.

I can't really tell the difference between the sororities though, and am not even sure if joining a sorority is a good choice. I don't mind occasional party scenes and events but am not looking forward to partying 24/7. Also, the scenes in movies of rushing and sororities are the only knowledge I have of them.

It'd be great to hear what people have to say about UCI sororities and greek life in general.

general tip: dont rush ur frosh year. go to a few parties throughout ur frosh year and see what you like. rush like crazy ur second year.

although if you find sometihng you really like ur frosh year or something, go for it.
dont forget you have friends in the dorms also, plus the people you meet in class and random people you’ll meet in general.

You’ll make plenty of friends in the dorms. I would probably wait on the rushing. You can always go to a few rush events and see how you like them. Most of them are fairly chill but there are reputations w/ each frat/sorority so you should be carful about it before you decide to commit/rush.

Both of those sororities are Asian (in case you didnt know). The NPC sororities are part of a different conference and have houses in Arroyo Vista.

Oh, well those two were the only ones I found on the UCI Club website. And I was leaning more towards an Asian sorority because I thought I would be more comfortable so those two seemed like the only options?
I dont know, its all still a huge maybe… :P

but if they only do it once a year, id probably end up rushing freshman year…
bahhhhhhh i dont knowwwww

well im not sure about the uci sororities, but i know that the asian sororities here in Georgia have Filipino and other asians usually not associated with the continent…
