The UCI CHP Day is Thursday, April 6. I live almost an hour away and it’s 7:30am-1:30pm, meaning I would essentially miss school to go.
I have yet to receive admission results from UCSD, UCSB (though I’m going to the Chancellor’s Reception in a week), and UCLA, so I don’t know where I want to go yet. Has anyone gone to this before? Is it worth it?
At least in engineering, the time commitment just isn’t worth it. Honors holds very little weight in graduate admissions and certainly won’t help you get a job. Working in a professor’s lab (if you’re lucky) or doing approved independent research with a current graduate student are a far better use of one’s time.
Most people start out in chp for priority registration then later drop it before they have to do real work.
Yeah, keep the CHP for early registration, then drop it later, so you can have better use of your time and not repeat unnecessary classes and use your AP credits instead to graduate
