Hi, I was accepted to UCI Honors, UCLA, UCSD, and Cal Poly SLO recently and I am debating on which one I should attend. I applied undeclared for the UC's, and Architecture for SLO but I am planning to transfer into the engineering college for Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Which college would be the better choice for me?

Would you be able to switch majors at SLO? I heard once you pick a major, it’s hard to change. Plus it is Engineering at SLO… that could be tough.

yeah I found out recently that it would be a little too hard to switch majors at SLO … so I guess I’ll take that out of the picture.

What are the majors at each UC?

I applied undeclared - humanities to UCLA, and undeclared for both UCSD and UCI. I’m planning on switching into the College of Engineering whereever I go, as I want to do either mechanical or aerospace engineering.

UCI and I’m sure UCLA have Mech and Aero engineering. UCI for sure has both. BTW, both schools are endowed and named after the same man–Henry Samueli. I would assume that both curriculum are similar and that the only difference is the student body. LA, from what a friend told me, is pretty darn competitive w/ lots of premed. Although, UCI has a large fraction of premed, too. I would go to admit day, if you can, and try to talk to some of the people there!

You have Honors, I would seriously consider that b/c with the budget cuts you will be able to register way earlier than the average student!
